Only 3 things were good about this place - the helpful ex-manager David, the lady who cleans the place, and its location (beside a train station and Sainsbury/Tesco). Other than that, there have been structural issues. Ceiling has been leaking, and there was often issue with the shower drainage which resulted in overflowing of water to the room. Management is really poor and they take ages to reply to email. They also offer minimal flexibility in their contract. This is seriously an issue in this uncertain period

I honestly regret choosing Academic House over uni halls. There have been many issues throughout my stay there, from cleanliness of my room on the arrival day to very poor management. Front door has been broken for so long that anyone could get in. Number of people had serious problems with leaking ceilings where water was literally dripping down on the floor and they still had to pay for their rooms... The new manager david is helpful but the company itself and the head office- horrible. There is no sense of community there, so if you’re excited for uni life and meeting new people this place won’t make it easier for you. I now know that I will not book with academic house again and will definitely go for uni halls next year. Location is a plus and the station is 2mins away.

Please please please dont believe the reviews from Universal Living (which gives this place a 4.8 rating), it truly does not reflect the poor condition of this accommodation. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the WORST student accommodation. The management was only good the first 2 weeks of the tenancy, after that the manager changes every month. Fire alarm goes off at least 5x a week in unreasonable hours, there is a giant hole in the ceiling of the lobby, no hot water and heater for 3 months, room light often breaks and would take weeks for the accommodation to fix it. Most importantly, the front door is broken for more than 5 months, this means ZERO security all the time, anyone can enter the building as no identification, fob or lock separate the outside from anyone getting in your room. As a student myself, I feel incredibly disappointed and mad having to spend so much money for an unsafe and unwelcoming accommodation.

Was Victoria Hall during my stay. Private accommodation is almost always better value for money than halls.
