I live in a premium studio and my friend lives in the en-suite room. Both our rooms are spacious and there is under bed storage and the floors are wooden. I found carpet rooms a lot harder to keep clean! The shower cubical is a decent size and the shower pressure is amazing. Compared to other student accommodation I have seen, they utilise the space in the bathroom well, so I can keep my skincare and makeup on the shelf which is useful. The social area is fun with table tennis and a Poole table. The study area is comfortable, good lighting and large. It is great to have a great study area as you can take small breaks and get snacks easily from your room. When you are in the library, you are unable to do this. The staff from the security, receptionist and cleaners are all friendly and kind. Collecting parcels are easy and stored safely. A big bonus is the location! There is a park close by and I would recommend Cafe Thrive as a place to eat if you live here.

They provide dirty and damaged facilities. If you request to fix something then they tell you to fix it yourself. At the end of the term, they will charge you to pay for fixes and cleaning that you are not responsible for.
Most appalling staff management I have ever come across. Letting students into your room, they do not care about your mental welfare. I had a lot of belongings stolen by other members of the household and the response was. There's nothing they can do. The lost miserable living experience. The only thing that is nice is the modern room. That's it. No social events planned other than come and get some sweets and free pizza before it's gone. No care or compassion. I wouldn't waste your money.
The accommodation attracts by its look as it is all new and the rooms are quite nice as well as social spaces, however, the staff is extremely unhelpful and it sometimes feels even little unsafe as the security just minds their own business most of the time. No social activities, we had one only on Christmas. Wouldnt recommend to a friend.
Is a good location and has good sized rooms and social areas
Thank you for the review! We love our location as we have access to the City Centre with shops, bars and resturants as well as transport links across Southampton and further! We think our social areas are pretty special - with our onsite gym and study spaces our residents are spoilt for choice.
Lonely modern building. Loads of social spaces and study spaces, feels really homely. WiFi is not the best, drops out frequently
Thank you for your review! We do think our social and study spaces are a great benefit for our residents especially our onsite gym! Sorry to hear you had some issues with our provider - ASK4. They are more than happy to help if these are reported to them so they are aware in the future of any outages.
Capital house is exactly what I look for in student accommodation. It's close enough to my university and the high street. It is also nicely kept by competent cleaners and the administrators and security are all switched on and polite. My only real Complaint is the combination microwave oven that we get as It's panel is a bit hard to use. Thankfully though there is a an excellently equipped room with a good kitchen and dining facilities that can be booked out for get togethers and the like.
Thank you for your wonderful review; it is thrilling to hear that Capital House is exactly what you wanted in your student accommodation. We do think our location is fab - we have the best of both worlds on your doorstep; not many people know how close we are to West Quay and also easy accessibility to both Solent Univeristy and University of Southampton. We pride ourselves on keeping the building clean and tidy and having friendly approachable staff so this is great to hear. The combination microwave oven is something which is available in the Studios only - and we are happy to share the user manual with you or alternatively pop to reception next time and we can come and take a look.
Great accommodation and very close to city centre. Staff were great too!!!
We think our staff are pretty great so pleased that our residents think that to; we will pass on your lovely comments.
I’ve really enjoyed my time here. The location is very convenient and the services and space provided were very good.
We are so pleased you have enjoyed your time here; we love our location being so close to the City Centre as well as both Universities. We love our social spaces from our games area to the onsite gym and study spaces.
Good quality for money overall. The double beds are really nice and the ensuite showers are strong. Cleaning service is not included which feels like it should be for the amount you pay, but there are services available (if willing). Due to Covid, the use of social spaces wasn’t allowed but they seem good. The gym has quite basic equipment, useful if you want a little workout. Great location to the town centre and Solent University. Overall, I was happy with my choice to live here but would only recommend once restrictions are over as there is a lot you pay for that couldn’t be used.
Thank you for your review; we are pleased you have enjoyed your stay with us here at Capital House. As you know COVID restrictions have mean the full spectrum of the social spaces have not been available the full year in line with government restrictions; however we are pleased to say that as these have lifted we have been able to open the majority of the spaces again for our residents to use. The onsite gym is a great addition and with a range of cardio and resistance equipment available for our residents to use. Being located as you say so close to the City Centre and Solent University is a great benefit as you mention.
Capital Gate is a great property! The location is great as a nursing student and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are really nice and modern too.
We are so pleased you are enjoying your stay at Capital House. We do think our location in the City Centre is fabulous; with access to the bus routes across Southampton. Our staff will be pleased to hear that they are helpful; they are there to help with any questions you may have. Our rooms are a great addition to make you feel home from home and we think are great with the spacious area and modern finish.
Lovely reception staff very friendly and helpful
We are so pleased that you have enjoyed your stay; we will pass your kind comments to our reception team.
Amazing everything is really well
We are so pleased that you are enjoying your stay here at Capital House!
The building is really well kept, only a short walk from the city centre and all staff have been really lovely and accommodating.
We really do think our location is fabulous; as you say we are a short walk from the City Centre of Southampton which is home to West Quay with a variety of shops in addition to being a short walk to Southampton Solent University. We are so delighted you have enjoyed your stay especially as we know that times have been difficult. We will pass your lovely comments onto the on-site team
Great place to live and reception staff are really helpful! :)
Thank you for your review; we are so pleased that you have enjoyed your stay with us again!

Thank you for your 5* review, it is great to hear how you love living with us here at Capital House; especially in comparision to your other experiences in accommodation. We really do think we have a great social space, as you mentioned we have our gaming area, bookable kitchen, but we also have an onsite gym! We know you have booked to stay with us again so look forward to welcoming you back to Capital House again in September!
Thoroughly enjoyed my time staying here, very friendly staff, easily approachable. Good value for money, would recommend capital house to stay as a student.
Thank you for taking the time to review us Jamie. We are thrilled you are enjoying your stay with us. We really want to create a warm friendly atmosphere for our residents. We know Southampton has a lot of difference accommodation so we love to hear that you get value for your money. We hope to welcome you back when you return to Southampton for your final year.
This is my first year staying at capital and the receptionist are amazing. They’ve made my stay feel welcome. And I’m so excited to stay here again next year.
Thank you Jada for your lovely words. We are thrilled that you have had a positive stay so far; we really do want our students to feel that home away from home. We can not wait to welcome you back to Capital House next year.
lovely place to live, feel very safe living here, reception team are wonderful
Thank you for writing a positive review; we know that COVID-19 has interupted this current academic year so we are pleased that you have still enjoyed your stay with us here at Capital House. We truly believe that the safe environment is due to the commnuntiy feel we have created; with someone available 24/7 should you have any questions or requirements. We will be sure to pass on your lovely comments to our reception team.
Such lovely staff at reception that care for the individual people in the accommodation, communal areas are always spotless and is a safe environment to be living in!
We are glad this was a friendly and comfortable home from home while you were based in Southampton. We always do try our best to accommodate the needs of our individual residents, so are pleased you have enjoyed your stay with us!
Absolutely love my room and it's easy to go to the shops as they are really close!
We are so pleased that you love your room. We do think our rooms are great and being located so close to the City Centre is a great benefit!
Wouldn’t recommend, your promised a lot of things in terms of a cinema room which has been broken the whole year study room which has been closed the whole year but your still paying for these facilities. staff don’t care and security are rude and aggressive. For the amount your paying it’s not worth it better off staying at Vita Student Accommodation better value for money and can use ALL the facilities that You pay for!
We are sorry that you feel that you wouldn't reccommend us. We know COVID-19 has meant that the way that we have had to operate has meant that certain facilities which would normally be well used haven't been shut as we have been following the governement guidelines until it is safe to once again socialise together! Both our gym and study space is open on a bookable basis to keep all of our residents safe. We hope in the coming weeks to open the remaining facilities. Our staff pride themselves on their friendly welcome and would be love to discuss your comments further to help us improve.
Very poor management and staff do not respect with international students. It was hard to contact with staff through e-mail because they do not reply the thing that I would like to ask. And they normally do not take any response to help me.
We are sorry to hear you struggled with communication wiht the staff. Rest assured we do respect all of our residents backgrounds, we have a wide variety of residents from a vast selection of countries across the world. We love to embrace ourselves with everyone's cultures and celebrate these. We do have new staff onsite who are always available at reception to discuss any feedback in person or reply to emails as soon as we can.
This place does not know how to run a STUDENT accommodation. No1, the only good thing about the accommodation is how nice the rooms are and I can’t stress this enough, that is it. The management here isn’t great at all, they work against you rather than with you. They also came up with a £500 payment that was supposed to be paid, without any knowledge of it until 4 days before moving in, and stated they wouldn’t give me the keys until I had paid this. Even though I paid the deposit 6 months earlier and could’ve paid this £500 then when I had the money. They also advertised this accommodations stating “no hidden fees” so if your planning to move here make sure you have money for these unannounced payments. Payments for accommodation fall in line 2-3 weeks before you get your student loans so they can give out fines for late repayments to maximise profit (as most of the rooms are not occupied).
We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay. All of your payments and dates are clearly written in the tenancy agreement. It is not unusual for payment to be made prior to residents moving in. We are happy to work with our residents to come up with a solution such as a payment plan should they have issues with their student finance loans coming in later than the dates on the agreement.
