I currently live here now and it’s fair to say I absolutely hate it. A lot of people who say it is like a fancy prison, they speak a lot of truth. I have had quite a few problems here also, such as I have mould on my windows which is now hardening and I am struggling to get off. I’m paying £5,500 grand for 44 weeks for somewhere which is making me ill and has messed me around a lot. You have to pay £200 to park your car, and it took them 6 weeks to sort out my car parking and they originally blamed it as my fault but it was fault of their own. I haven’t had the money deducted either for the extra month I missed the full parking. Honestly would say don’t come here, the only benefit you get is a microwave and sink area. WiFi is rubbish also and environment can be very unpleasant in relation to social activity. People either isolate themselves in their rooms or come out and often there are disagreements or unpleasantness. Regret coming to live here so much. If I could get out, I would.
This place was the sole reason I wanted to drop out. Thank god I left for 2nd year as I've never been happier now I'm away from that glorified prison.
Rooms are a bit small and crowded once all your stuff is in. The landlords don't really check on the place and its a nightmare getting them to come and sort out any issues you have with your room.
I found it easy as a fresher to meet new people and make friends here. It is nice that it is available to all students. Rooms are light and we'll planned out.
I had so many problems with my room and getting some one to sort my problems out. Communication from the owner was ridiculous. Felt isolated in my room and social spaces were taken over by certain groups of people and when attempting to sit in there felt like you were invading. If you want a social experience, don't choose these halls. If you want someone who will do something about problems in your room, again, don't choose these halls. The only good things werr the fact that the cleaners came 5 days a week to clean social areas and when the Internet changed over to Ask.
Rooms It's expensive but the rooms (if you get a large) are really big, and it's nice to have your own fridge freezer and en-suite. Plenty of clothing space (although I brought a clothes rail with me because I had too many clothes). I also had to buy some plastic draws to put stationery and stuff in. Rooms at the front can be quite noisey and the blinds let in a lot of light even when closed. Social There's loads of people on each floor but within a couple of weeks you'll find the people you want to be friends with, and they're not always on your own floor. No one really uses the upstairs common rooms. Parking Permits are really expensive, but if you've got people visiting at the weekend, they can park on campus or opposite and walk down. Sometimes you can risk parking in the car park for a few hours during the day if you don't have a permit but people have assigned spaces and will get a**ey if you park in it. Overall it's pretty nice, but expensive.
Everything was great, except from an incident in the bike shed, however has since been corrected.
Great room sizes all with en-suite. Uphill location great for uni but not so great for access to town.
I liked the fact that Crosstrend was not actually on campus but was only a 5 minute walk away. Brilliant experience!!
Crosstrend House is by far the most comfortable accommodation at BGU compared to the rest. It's well maintained, the social experience is amazing and it couldn't be any better
The rooms are pretty nice but there isn't as much storage space as I had hoped. It seems like the accommodation shown on campus has more storage in the room.
Good rooms, but bad value for money. Not enough social spaces or kitchen space.
Hard to make friends as you are isolated. Like a big hotel. Social spaces often taken over by certain groups of people and not shared. Internet is absolutely awful. I hated it and spent most of my first year commuting in the end. Complete waste of money
This is where i found my closest friends, its not only the people on your course.
