The WiFi is so poor on campus it never works and kicks you off after half an hour & you have to re sign in which takes about 5 minutes it’s very disruptive during lectures. The campus has lovely green spaces & lots of cafes/ bars the only thing is they are quite expensive in the health sciences department there’s no where to sit to have your lunch so last week we went in the cafe some of my friends had bought lunch in & some had bought from the cafe, but because we all hadn’t bought from the cafe they kicked us out so we had to sit in our cars which is unfair for the people who don’t drive. The support from the union is there, but it is very good if you have a problem they don’t want to escalate it I had an issue with fitness to practice & they offered me support but In reality they said I wouldn’t get anywhere. So I dealt with FTP directly & got an apology that way. read more

As an international student, I’ve had an amazing experience at the University of York over the past year. There are so many interesting clubs, societies, and spaces to explore, which made settling in and meeting new people so much easier. There were 2 different career fairs that I attended and they have been incredibly informative and helpful, and I really appreciate the regular career advice sessions offered every week. The University of York Students' Union is also very supportive and provides lots of free resources and services that are genuinely useful for students. One of my favourite things about the university is the beautiful campus. I love walking around and spending time by the lake that flows through it, it’s such a peaceful and relaxing environment to study and live in. read more
