Generally campus is nice with good facilities, however halls are outdated with rubbish appliances, terrible wifi that can hardly be used in bedrooms with absolutely no connection at all in kitchens. For what is an old and not very nice building, the price is so high, paying over £9200 for only 9 months self-catered. Clubs and societies are good, a wide range of opportunities in nearly every hobby or passion you could have. Mostly cheap pricing, and good events in my experience. Student union is good in terms of having frequent events and good freshers fayres. Outdated building but being refurbished to add a restaurant now, hopefully making it nicer without increasing pricing. Careers Service offer CV workshops, one on one help and also I've heard do interview practice, something really useful that helps a lot before interviewing at large companies as a beginner. read more

University of St Andrews
As a PhD student at the University of St Andrews, my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. What stands out most is the research-focused environment and the accessibility of academic staff. The university has a strong reputation for research, but despite its international profile, it maintains a close-knit and supportive atmosphere where supervisors and faculty members are approachable and genuinely invested in students’ progress. One aspect I particularly appreciate is the interdisciplinary research culture. There are frequent seminars, workshops, and visiting speakers, which provide opportunities to engage with cutting-edge research beyond my immediate field. These events have helped broaden my perspective and allowed me to connect with researchers from different disciplines. The facilities available to postgraduate researchers are excellent. The library provides access to an extensive range of academic resources, and dedicated study spaces make it easy to work productively. read more

I believe that St Andrews truly is an incredible University academically, but some things could definitively be improved. I often find myself wishing that we had more or larger exercise spaces and leisure opportunities - by leisure I mean the Union! Most nights are interactive, daytime prices are great, but I still feel as though it’s missing something that would give it an extra edge; better dj’s, better music, better themes, cheaper tickets! As for the wifi, it is obviously edu-roam, and can sometimes be quite tricky at certain times of the day and in certain buildings, such as the Buchanan Building which, as a modern languages student, can be quite frustrating during lectures and tutorials. All in all, St Andrews is a super fun, accessible, interactive and educational place to be, however I think some updates are in order to give our little town something extra special. read more

Love this university. The staff are so supportive and the tutors are always there if you need them and quick to reply. Classes are small and intimate which makes for a good environment. Only thing is there is not much library space and during exam season it can be so hard to find a study space. read more

Space has pretty much everything you will need. During the winter months when it rains constantly, to have the use of not only our own personal gym but also the newly opened Salt gym is a great asset. I have a studio apartment here and the rooms are well kitted out with storage space. The social spaces are great because you can invite friends over to cook dinner by renting out the commmunal kitchen, included in the price of course. The communal spaces are warm and inviting, and I love that I can invite friends over when we have events on. read more
