So far, the Architecture course at the University of Reading has been a great introduction into architecture. The course so far has taught many different aspects from digital to physical work and the introduction of group work projects. The history module has also helped develop my architectural historical knowledge and the essay assignment has helped with correct writing style and citation.

The teachers were either just okay or terrible. Most of them never replied to emails and openly when asked said they didn't. or we were asked not to contact them when work was set over the holidays. Expectations of hours was enormous to the point where all nighters and long 10 hour days but we're almost expected to complete required work. Printing and material costs is expensive and could easily spend £80 on printing for 1 submission. I often felt drained from just going to lectures and the course was affecting my wellbeing. the expectation was to work a 40 to 50 hour week as a baseline. This is excessive compared to other courses. from observation I noticed that around a 1/4 of students will drop out by the end of 2nd year. I myself had to put my mental health first as the course was negatively impacting me. I did very well in other academic environments like sixth form. do this was out of character. I would avoid this course as the teachers are unsupportive and bad teachers. read more
