Classical Studies, BA Hons FullTime

Languages mostly seem to read off a powerpoint, which is made up by copying from the set book we use to learn which doesnt feel worth £9,000 - but that's what unis generally do anyways. Otherwise enjoyable modules, very nice teachers and good support system. read more

History, BA Hons FullTime

Good degree, though not exactly value for money compared to sciences. The contact hours for some modules are honestly a joke. Still, high quality tutors and a wide variety of interesting modules to choose from. Fairly well respected in the job market too for building research and team skills. read more

Classical Studies and English Lit is the perfect combination for people with interests in both fields. I highly enjoyed the course content and was supported greatly by tutors and lecturers throughout my time at Exeter. History, BA Hons FullTime

History at the University of Exeter was exceptional. The course was clearly structured, and you could see how core modules in year 1 and 2 built up your knowledge in preparation for the final year and your dissertation. Optional modules were based on current research of the academic. Half of your final year is dedicated to studying one topic in depth - this was absolutely brilliant and gave you time to immerse yourself in current historiographical debates. I specialised in Early Modern History - the staff in this area were supportive and easily contactable. There were many ways to engage with the department outside of classes, such as peer mentoring and student-staff forums. read more

History and International Relations, BA Hons FullTime

Decent course. Lectures are recorded online and are mostly very interesting. Really flexible too as can pick any of the Politics modules. Could be more flexible on the history side. Haven’t met my personal tutor so can’t really comment on that but there hasn’t been much of a personal feel with the tutors or lecturers in my experience tbh. read more

Classical Studies and English, BA Hons FullTime

As most people know going into a degree containing English, the vast majority of time is taken up with independent research; which at times may make you wonder why you're paying so much per year. At UoE, however, the quality and content of available teaching is so above par, that you're happy to work by yourself when needed. Professors encourage good work and supply incredible resources to ensure that you constantly know exactly what you're doing. Learning an ancient language may at times seem daunting, but both Latin and Ancient Greek are approached thoughtfully and carefully to ensure the best available teaching goes in, so the best possible results come out. read more
