I have recently completed my first year at Dundee uni. Unfortunately, COVID has been a bit annoying and we had quite a lot of pre-recorded lectures but I still had a good experience studying medicine here. We managed to have full-body anatomy dissections, comm and clinical skills sessions. We also had two GP patient visits and a visit to a hospital ward where we could talk to real patients and practice taking a history. I think the best part of Dundee uni is that they make you feel like a doctor from day one, and the diversity of people you meet in your course. We also get split into small groups of around 10 students who you stay with until 3rd year. They are very supportive and provide a safe space to make mistakes in comm/clinical skills. The medical curriculum is structured by learning in systematic blocks, eg. Principles, Resp, Cardio and GI in the first year. The final exam is at the end of the year, with an MCQ online and an anatomy spot exam. read more

The way Dundee has been handling COVID has been VERY poor. Poor management skills and definitely not worth the money! They stopped students from doing any clinical (years 1-3) and reduced face-to-face sessions to probably only about 5-8 for the year. They continue to provide their students with very VAGUE answers until the very LAST minute and expect us to accept/adapt to it. They stopped all clinical sessions and then cram all the sessions before exams (1-2 months prior to exams with little practise) expecting us to be experts and pass exams. They don't seem to understand the amount of stress/ anxiety this has caused. From talking to peers in other Uni's in Scotland or England, I can clearly see how far low Dundee is in terms of their management/planning skills and how poorly they have prepared their students Been very disappointed with Dundee who continues to use COVID, which has been happening for more than a year, as an excuse to their last-minute decisions, and poor management. read more

Medicine at Dundee is amazing! The teaching is interactive, the lecturers are engaging and the whole experience is wonderful. You learn in Ninewells hospital, meaning you're out on the wards once a week meeting real patients - invaluable experience that you can't get at many of the other medical schools in Scotland. You also meet simulated patients (actors who often have the real condition they talk about but aren't acutely unwell) to practise clinical skills and communication skills. The facilities are high tech and modern with the Dowe simulation suite (a fully kitted out ward JUST for us to practise clinical skills in) is unbeatable. On top of this, the teaching is great. You also have dissection on campus on real cadavers, again an invaluable experience that is not offered at many other universities. Overall, dundee is a great place for medicine if you're looking for a friendly, well organised university with modern facilities and the ability to turn you into an amazing doctor read more
