The course was severely outdated, and far too broad. Value for money is non-existent, and I didn’t even pay for the course! (Scottish student) Some staff are great and make a conscious effort to keep their courses up to date, but most are relics that are stuck in the past. One lecturer even told us that SSDs are magic technology that we wouldn’t have to think about for another 5-10 years! Despite that everyone had a phone (all SSD) and laptop (majority SSD now) with them in the lecture? You do not specialise in any particular segment at Dundee, and there are very little options you get to choose - just once in first year sem 2 and again in fourth year sem 1. Job prospects are still surprisingly good though, thanks to Dundee’s great links to the tech industry - NCR in particular are a big name that often take a lot of graduates on for their Dundee office - but this is helped by the fact that in computing in general, companies know they have to heavily train new recruits. read more
