I am a mature distance learning student, completing my MA in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics. The online platform is easy to use and the digital library is expansive. All staff have been easy to contact when I need any support, including IT, Finance, Admin, my personal tutor and teaching staff. I have been assigned a mentor to help me stay connected with university life and the Philosophy department. The modules are contemporary, as are the course materials. The student cohort is diverse and we all connect to the course flexibly, from different time zones. I receive a weekly events newsletter which has plenty of options for attending online webinars and socials. Feedback on assessed work does take 15 working days, which feels like a long time, but once it arrives it is extremely detailed and personalised, so it is worth the wait. I feel as though I am receiving excellent training in core philosophical skills of critical thinking, argumentation and academic writing.

I absolutely love this place! Moving here wasn’t easy, especially coming from another country, but choosing Battery Park was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The study spaces are incredible, and the pool table and table tennis area are perfect for unwinding after a long study session. The facilities are spacious, modern, and feel really safe. There’s always someone at reception, whether you need help with maintenance or just a friendly chat. It’s not a proper night without saying hi to the lovely Aga at reception, or starting the morning with sweet Bee. They truly keep the positive energy going and make the whole place feel like home. Honestly, it’s so worth it.

Overall a good accom however it is inconvenient that there is no reception during the weekend. I once missed a flight because I my passport was supposed to be delivered on a saturday but the delivery failed as the reception is closed. The fire alarms go off pretty often, inconvenient during the weekend because there is no one at reception so no one to turn it off. Otherwise the rooms are very nice, the staff is also very nice. It is definitely on the pricey side, an ensuite room is pretty expensive and I m not sure what justifies that price.

the university of birmingham is a great place to study, the campus is very nice, with loads of green areas, a variety of transportation options we can use. The library is also very helpful with some good study spaces and a lot of research material. The teaching facilities are also very nice, and there's a variety of them depending on each modules need. There's a lot of activities that take place around campus so i think it is easy to find something that will interest you or to try something new.

I enjoy studying liberal arts at UoB because it allows me explores different subject modules each year. I’ve learnt to realise what I do enjoy and what I don’t enjoy in different subjects. There are loads of student societies to join from as well on campus and I try a new one each year to meet new people. I’ve been on committees and been able to have a part time on campus which is flexible around my studies and commitment. The library on campus is 24/7 during term time and even has group study spaces, silent spaces, rooms that you can book as well. This is quite the lifesaver for exam season or if you’ve left your assignment a bit late again! Day time events are great as there are ones from student societies, the student union, the department and the main university. This includes Welcome Week, UoB Xtra which takes place after exams and the artisan markets where there are monthly stalls from local markets on campus to explore.

I’ve really enjoyed studying the MA History at the University of Birmingham, particularly the balance between academic challenge and support. Teaching is a real highlight: seminars are small and discussion-focused, lecturers are approachable specialists, and feedback on assignments and dissertations is detailed and constructive, helping me develop my research and writing skills. The campus is green, well laid-out, and full of quiet and collaborative study spaces, with excellent facilities for History students, including the Main Library, online databases, and an interlibrary loan service. Careers support is strong, from one-to-one advice and workshops to alumni networks and the Birmingham Award, helping students plan their next steps. The Guild of Students also offers a vibrant social and extracurricular life, with societies covering almost any interest or sport, daytime workshops, evening socials, and fun events, making it easy to balance study with social life.

My overall experience at the University of Birmingham has been very positive and rewarding, especially as an international postgraduate student. The university offers a strong balance between academic quality, practical opportunities, and student support, which makes it a great place to study at LLM level. Academically, the teaching is research-led and intellectually engaging, with a strong emphasis on critical thinking rather than rote learning. Seminars are discussion-based, and students are encouraged to engage with real-world legal and regulatory issues. One of the biggest strengths of the LLM programme is its flexibility, which allows students to choose optional modules outside their core pathway and personalise their degree according to their interests and career goals. Beyond academics, the university provides many extracurricular and employability-focused opportunities, such as research roles, pro bono work, mooting, and skills-based challenges.

I have had a great experience studying at the University of Birmingham so far. Both the academics and extra-curricular aspects of university life have been amazing. I have personally liked all of my modules so far. They match my research interests quite well. The lecturers and tutors are all experts in their respective fields, and it truly feels enriching to be in their classrooms. My course operates in a seminar-only mode, which was definitely a huge change from my undergrad. However, I have really come to enjoy seminars as it is interesting to hear from both my tutor and my classmates. Everyone has something different to bring to the table. The staff are also very supportive outside the classroom, and I have generally not had any issues with contacting them. My experience living in university accommodation has been smooth so far. The accommodation team regularly organises events for its residents, which help keep the environment really lively.

I attend the university at the Stratford-upon-Avon campus. The facilities are good, and we have access to all of the books that we need for the course either in the library that we have on campus, or online. Some older resources are only available at the main campus which is around an hour and a half away by public transport, but in most cases this is not an issue. The wifi (eduroam) is normally good but has had some outages recently. We have a drama society which puts on plays regularly.

The University is a great place to study. The campus is primarily traditional red brick and is a really nice area to be in during all seasons. Although the campus is out in Edgbaston it is really easy to get into the centre of Birmingham by train from University Station or to get to areas like Harbourne, which is good for shops and restaurants. Academically, the university has really supportive staff and lots of systems put in place to provide good support and different opportunities. The careers team is especially good and there are lots of options to complete work experience, internships and volunteering both in the UK and abroad. The social life is also great, with lots of societies, events and club nights at The Guild. There's also generally lots to do in Birmingham and the area around the uni so the social life is a real selling point of the uni.

Studying here feels like being part of a 125-year legacy. Walking under Old Joe (the iconic clock tower) every day in the historic Chancellor’s Court gives you a sense of pride that is hard to match. But don't let the historic buildings fool you—inside, the facilities are cutting-edge. From the Financial Trading Suite to the massive 24/7 Main Library, you have every tool needed to succeed in a data-driven world. Perhaps the most defining part of the experience is the support. Whether it’s the Wellbeing Officers in the Business School, the Student Support Fund providing a financial safety net, or the Careers Network helping you land internships at global firms, you never feel like just a number.

UoB is a great uni to study at for many reasons. The careers service have been incredibly helpful in assisting me on my path to postgraduate study, and I would recommend these services to anyone studying at UoB. Furthermore, UoB has hundreds of student-lead societies to get involved with, meaning there is a society out there for everyone. The student accommodation is all close together and well-maintained, and the facilities on campus are plentiful. I always feel very safe at UoB because the campus layout means that my friends are never far away, and the first-year student accommodation always had 24 hour reception so if you ever have any worries or problems there is always someone around.

I really enjoy going to the university of Birmingham as it has a lovely blend of being a campus uni whilst being in amongst a city, which provides a nice green familiar space and cheap city housing! The University has great facilities and plenty to get involved with no matter what your interests are. Having a personal academic tutor allowed me to have constant support throughout my studies. There is always something happening on campus! Events and societies happen all the time, and they are a great way to get involved and find people with similar interests to yourself. There are also plenty of bars and pubs close by including on-campus bars. The city centre is easy and cheap to get to and has many clubs and bars also. Whatever it is that you fancy doing, you will be able to find a way to do it here at Birmingham.

As a student who spent a year at the University of Birmingham, this century-old red-brick institution has transcended the definition of an "university" and has become the most precious container for my growth in my youth. When I first arrived on campus, the greenery and the Victorian-style buildings immediately captured my heart, and the only underground railway station in the entire UK was an even greater surprise. Academically, the teaching here is both rigorous and inclusive. During my studies, it not only enhanced my academic abilities but also taught me how to collaborate across cultures. The career service center of the university is a "treasure", and I received a lot of help. The one-year study abroad experience at the University of Birmingham not only taught me professional knowledge but also made me independent, brave, and resilient. Here, I met like-minded friends, experienced different cultures, and became clear about my life direction.

The University is a great place both in its courses as in their extra curricular activities. The campus is nicely situated and looks very nice, especially in Spring and Summer. There are lots of clubs and societies to join ranging from sports to music amongst other creative clubs. Living facilities are good, as there are lots of student houses as well as good accommodation to choose from. There are job opportunities that you have to stay on top on if you would like a job on the side as well.

Choosing the University of Birmingham for Law has been the best decision for my career, as it perfectly combines a prestigious Russell Group reputation with a truly supportive community. The academic experience is rigorous but rewarding, especially with the unique opportunity to apply classroom theories to real-world cases through seminars. I have felt completely supported by the multi-layered guidance system, from the specialised career focus of CEPLER to the consistent mentorship of my Personal Academic Tutor. Life on the beautiful Edgbaston campus is incredibly convenient, offering world-class facilities and a vibrant Students' Union that makes you feel at home instantly. It is a high-value investment that offers a top-tier education, a fantastic social life, and a clear path into the global legal profession.

Starting my journey at the University of Birmingham was both exciting and overwhelming, as it meant stepping into a new country, a new culture, and a new chapter of my life. From the very first day, the university made me feel welcomed, supported, and understood. The kindness of the staff, the openness of the campus community, and the inclusive environment helped me feel at ease and confident. What began as uncertainty slowly turned into comfort and belonging, allowing me to grow academically, personally, and emotionally. This experience has not only shaped my education but has also given me memories, strength, and confidence that I will carry forward.

There is also a great student life with many options to engage in non-academic interests and socialise with other students.

I chose to study at the University of Birmingham because it was one of few universities offering my course - a BA in three modern languages (German, French and Russian in my case). Since starting here, I have loved every minute of it. The staff are passionate, highly knowledgeable (most are active researchers), and supportive. The course is interesting and engaging. The campus is stunningly beautiful. I have also been able to work on campus for the university during my studies which has been a brilliant way to meet new friends across the university. There are many different societies to join and the student body is friendly. I am hoping to stay on and study an MA at the University too. Russian was a new language for me, starting at university. I have been delighted at my progress. The ab initio programme is very supportive, but fast-paced and I have enjoyed every moment. The University of Birmingham offers competitive contact hours for modern languages which is really important.

The university provides a welcoming and diverse community to students, there are a multitude of support systems in place to ensure that every student feels supported throughout their university journey. The university has a range of high-quality facilities, gyms and study spaces. The campus is unique and the Guild of Students allows for students to contribute at a decision-making level to various aspects of the university. There are continually new and exciting events and societies to become a part of, meaning that regardless of your interests, you are highly likely to find a society that complements you. There are also a wide range of funding options available that increase the accessibility of the university, as well as many programmes to ensure that your university transition is as smooth as possible.

My experience at the University of Birmingham has been extremely positive and rewarding. The campus and facilities are outstanding, modern, well-maintained, and well designed for both studying and leisure. The libraries, study spaces, and digital infrastructure strongly support academic work, especially at postgraduate level. Student life is vibrant and inclusive, with a diverse international community. There are many clubs and societies, making it easy to meet people, pursue interests, and feel part of a community. The Student Guild is a real highlight: it is well organised, supportive, and very active in organising social, cultural, and professional events. Academically, my course (MSc Bioinformatics) has been challenging but highly rewarding. The teaching is research-led, the staff are approachable, and the course provides strong preparation for research and industry careers. The University of Birmingham offers a supportive academic environment with excellent facilities, reliable campus services, and a diverse student community. Teaching quality is strong, and resources are well suited to both studying and daily student life. If you would like a version that is more enthusiastic, more critical, or focused on a specific aspect (e.g. teaching, accommodation, IT services, or international student support), tell me and I will refine it accordingly.

During my time here so far, I have had a great experience. The moving into accommodation process was simple, being allocated a time slot to move in and helped by student ambassadors. That week, there were events such as a Pizza Party to help settle into university - free to students living in accommodation and a good way to meet people living around you. Course delivery has been of high standard. For each module we start with an introduction lecture which outlines the learning outcomes of the module, how to contact the lecturers and assessment methods so that we know what to expect. Content is presented in a variety of ways such as online textbooks, practical sessions, computer labs, lectures and seminars. Student life here is fun too! There are so many societies to try out - with many taster sessions to try out new things at the beginning of the academic year. The Guild website lists all events for accommodation and all students - so it's easy to find things to go to.

The transition to university was definitely daunting however there were so many different events and opportunities to meet new people that I was able to find a good group of friends really quickly. There are so many different society’s there’s really something for anyone and they’re really welcoming so are an amazing way to make friends and to try some brand new things. The campus is stunning with a really great sense of community, there’s a lot of different career support available with a website that provides a range of different services and ways to book meetings with specific career advisors to help with things like your cv.

I have really enjoyed my time at the University of Birmingham. I gained so much independence when moving away from home in my first year and felt supported by the university in doing so. My course has interesting and well organised content, with experienced lecturers who can provide insight into the profession and guidance. I have been adequately supported in finding clinical placements to further my learning. I have also been encouraged to participate in a variety of social events and societies, which are some of my favourite memories from my time here. There are small aspects of my course that could improve, but overall I have thoroughly enjoyed my almost 4 years studying here!

I've had an amazing time studying at the University of Birmingham. I'm now in my final year, having undertaken a placement year last year. The extracurricular and career opportunities have shaped my experience the most and helped me land my dream graduate role. The staff are incredibly supportive, the student societies are vast and welcoming and the uni have invested a lot into new facilities and student experiences. The campus is always been improved with the opening of our new train station and molecular sciences building most recently. There's plenty of study spaces with charging points all across campus. The library is great because it's open 24/7 during term time, which helps during assessment season. The library has an Academic Skills Centre too, who helped me in first year when I was struggling with referencing and structuring my essays. There's so many accommodation options to choose from, and again there's a couple new ones too.

The University of Birmingham has an amazing campus, with lots of facilities such as cafes, restaurants, study spots, gym and sports pitches, and a music hall. It is well located, being the only uni in the country to have its own train station, and is close to the city centre which has a main train station and lots of shops and restaurants. There are lots of societies to pick from, and the accommodation options are all really great and close to campus. I've made amazing friends, through my course, societies and accommodation.

Going from school to uni was a big change for me, especially because this wasn't the course I initially intended to do. But there were so many opportunities to integrate into uni life, regardless of how much I already knew. I am a commuter, so staying late (especially as the days got shorter) for society events was not something that seemed possible and so, I thought I wouldn't be able to get involved in any of them. But there are just so many societies and event times have such a broad range, that I was still able to get involved.

I am a second-year Psychology student at the University of Birmingham and have had a very positive experience overall. The university offers the best of both worlds, combining the safety and community feel of a campus with the opportunities of being based in a vibrant city. The campus is clean, well maintained, and welcoming, with green spaces and historic buildings that make it a pleasant place to study and spend time. Its location is a major advantage, with the city centre just a six-minute train journey away from the university’s own station, making travel easy and affordable. Socially, there is a wide range of options, from diverse nightlife to societies and activities for those who prefer quieter, non-drinking events. Academically, the university provides strong support through excellent facilities such as the Careers Network and Academic Skills Centre. Overall, the University of Birmingham offers a well-rounded experience that supports both academic and personal growth.

Overall, my experience at the University of Birmingham has been exceptionally fulfilling. The university stands out for its inclusive culture and cutting-edge infrastructure, particularly the new School of Engineering. My Master’s program is well-structured and academically rigorous, offering a perfect balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application. While transitioning into a new field and navigating the British weather presented initial challenges, the unbeatable convenience of the campus—from the on-site train station to my nearby studio—and the support from my tutors made it an ideal choice. It is a place where academic investment truly meets a high quality of student life.

Coming from London, I was a little nervous about settling into a new city, but the university has been incredibly welcoming from the very start. My time at the University of Birmingham has been excellent, and I have thoroughly enjoyed all three years of my degree. In first year, I lived on the Vale, which was a fantastic accommodation and provided a great introduction to university life. In second year, I moved into Selly Oak, where I have continued to live in third year, enjoying the independence and sense of community that comes with it. Each year, I have really appreciated the campus itself, which makes the university feel distinctive and was one of the main factors that initially attracted me to Birmingham. As a History student, I have been consistently challenged throughout my degree, which has been both academically rewarding and intellectually stimulating. Alongside my studies, I have made some great memories through involvement in sports teams, supported by excellent facilities, particularly the gym, which I have really enjoyed using. The university’s location has also greatly enhanced my experience. It is set in an ideal place, where you are 30 minutes away from the heart of Birmingham, allowing you to explore the natures and the busyness of the city. The university is a great place to study due to the student support groups which enable you to access large communities and find your ideal study buddy, alongside a coherent timetable for you dedicate time towards your studies. It also allows you to explore your identity, with numerous societies, days and huts which are catered towards different groups and cultures. The University is the most targeted university when it comes to employment and the skills that are taught within modules and courses directly make them applicable within the real world, which makes you very malleable when it comes to the real workforce as the university instills core skills and knowledge that is required and this is why the University of Birmingham is ranked 95 in the QS, attracting many international students.

The campus and facilities are beautiful. The campus is lovely and green and students will have picnics when the sun is out! Sports facilities were renovated for the common wealth games 2022, and there are over 300 societies to join! I have met so many of my friends through the student union and we always go to events here. All of the student union committee was voted in by students so they really represent the student's beliefs and goals. I found my career placements on my own however there is lots of career support available for applications and interviews. Eduroam wifi could be better.

I really like my university. My course is great, and the societies and clubs are very varied and fun. The night life is also good and I’ve made lots of friends through the great community at the uni.

Great! There is a bus stop downstairs where you can take a bus to school. The staff are very dedicated and solve the related problems very quickly. The network is very fast.

Moving to a new country alone was terrifying. I had endless worries—homesickness, safety, comfort—but the moment I entered True Student Birmingham, all those fears disappeared. This place felt like home from day one. Even when I stayed in my room for days, I never felt lonely. The staff supported me at every step, responded instantly to emails, and fixed issues without delay. When my heater stopped working, the property manager came himself and made sure I was comfortable. That level of care means everything, especially as an international student. Thank you Sid, Mint, Lee, and the night staff for making this place safe, warm, and welcoming. I’ll always be grateful I chose True Student Birmingham.
