English Literature and Film, BA Hons FullTime

I'm only a first year, so from what I've done so far, I would say the curriculum of the first year course is restrictive, however it is only to learn the basics. I found the Poetry module as well as the Intro to Film and Intro to TV modules to be the most fun, a lot of it is just watching and reading stuff and it's pretty great!

Art and English Literature, BA Hons FullTime

Art has a wonderful staff team and community. It becomes very independent in your later years but you get what you put into it. Literature is good, it is very 50/50 with the tutors, some are lovely and will offer any help you need whilst others will provide very little. read more

English Literature, BA Hons FullTime

The first year offers such a wide range of material that when the opportunity comes along to choose your modules for second year, you have a good idea of how you want to specialise, and the variety of modules makes this possible. The lecturers make a subject which I thought I knew well so engaging and eye-opening, and you learn an abundance of transferable skills along the way. read more

I'm really happy I've chosen to do English Literature at the University of Reading. I am currently a first year student and I love that I have had choice on what to do throughout my degree with the ability to select optional modules - and that I can continue to do so in later years. I am also looking forward to the future with the university: which allow term aboard placements form all over the world as well as having archives in Samuel Beckett and Children's Literature. Reading also has a complete sub-department for creative writing for anyone who is interested in writing their own works. :) read more
