Required subjects for Speech and Language Therapy BSc Hons at The University of Manchester

I believe that the effort the University of Manchester invested into ensuring students’ safety and wellbeing pays back. There is a true feel for community and action wherever you go. I personally love our student’s union for its overall interior and the events it facilitates as well as the locations of all of the university facilities. Despite that, I still believe that some of them are outdated and sometimes ill-kept, with the bathrooms in some buildings having a distinctive smell and a clear lack of updating. I have not been able to connect to eduroam. The library has many resources however the loans are too long and the books for my course are too few. So books ran out quickly a d the loan is for a full year, so there's no chance to get it in time for assignments. The loan for devices is too short, laptops have a maximum loan of 6 hours, so it is not useful for working in assignments and taking home. The facilities ar great, I find the online aspect of the university is a bit behind others, for example, having an app to centralise resources, digital id and timetable. We have many careers Fairs and I have received much information on graduation schemes and opportunities. read more

I think my favourite part of University of Manchester so far is the range of events available to me that not only tailors to many of my interests but also is extremely useful for developing important life skills like collaboration and communication. The peer assisted study system comes to mind- I was once just like the very same first years who come to us for guidance and support. There is also the opportunity to learn important first aid skills such as in Heart Heroes. There is also so many amazing clubs and societies for everyone. There’s the big ones I’ve joined such as Islamic Society and Malaysian Society, but there are also societies that cater to specific interests such as Matcha Society. One of the things I would complain about is the internet connection. Last year I had nearly all of my lectures in University Place and struggled to access important resources during the lecture or engage using Mentimeter because of the often painfully slow wifi connection. read more

My experience at the University of Manchester has been positive so far. The university provides a welcoming and diverse environment, with plenty of opportunities to connect with students and explore new interests. The welcome fairs and university events have helped me discover opportunities beyond the classroom. In particular, the Innovation Festival has been incredibly beneficial in helping me explore ideas, connect with like-minded people and take steps towards my career goals. The campus facilities are awesome, and the Wi-Fi is reliable in various areas for studying and entertainment.
