Entry requirements for Material Science and Technology and Biotechnology at The University of Manchester
Entry requirements are the formal requirements students need to meet to be considered for a place on a university course. But, each year many universities accept students with lower grades. The bar chart below shows the actual UCAS tariff points of students currently on this course.
A,A,A
Required subjects for Biotechnology (4 years) [MSci] Msci at The University of Manchester
We require grades AAA-AAB, including two of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (the Core Sciences). You must have a minimum of grades AA in at least two Core Sciences. Applicants predicted/who have achieved a B in their third A level will receive an offer of AAB, while those predicted/who have achieved an A or A* will be eligible for an offer of AAA. If you are taking only one of the above Core Science subjects, we can consider you for an AAA offer if you are also sitting an A level in at least one of Geography, Psychology, Environmental Studies or Physical Education in place of the second Core Science. Subjects with overlapping content are not normally considered as separate A-levels; Further Mathematics is not considered alongside Mathematics and Human Biology is not considered alongside Biology. We believe that practical skills in the sciences are integral to a candidate's understanding and appreciation of these subjects. Therefore we encourage all applicants to undertake any practical skills assessment if it is available in their qualification; this is not required for applicants applying with achieved A levels from 2022. Contextual offer: AAB-ABC (including specific subjects). Typical WP++ Contextual offer: ABB-ABD (including specific subjects).

Materials Science and Engineering, BSc Hons FullTime

Materials Science&Engineering is an interesting field but UoM made it even better! Content is really good and quite broad. It covers everything from physics of materials to their applications in real world. Feedback for coursework can be quite late but lectures are always ready to answer your questions, weathers it's during the lecture or after. Personal Tutors are quite helpful but at least in first year they do not provide any academic mentoring. Most of lectures are good, knowledgable and keen to share their passion with you. Coursework is closely related to covered content but it still is challenging. Exams are hard but there's everything provided for you to be successful! read more
