Really regret taking this course. First year was a shambles as there was very little guidance or teaching, everyone was left to fend for themselves and try to work out what was expected of us. Lectures are scarce and when you do get them they are rarely relevant. Most work is self-led which would be fine except there is very little support. Tutors and feedback are misleading as there is no communication between tutors and it’s all opinion based (some like one thing and others like something else which affects your grade). Multiple times I have been told that my work was brilliant and would achieve a high grade only to receive a below average mark which is very frustrating. Many tutors have favourites and only like a certain medium/style/genre etc. You have to buy all of your materials (nothing is provided) and you have to pay for any materials you use in the workshops. Feedback given by students to tutors is overlooked and explained away so no change ever happens. read more

I love my course so much! The fine art studios create a community where you can talk to and ask advice from all years! The facilities are amazing and come with incredibly knowledgeable staff! My personal tutors this year have been amazing, so supportive and give feedback really well. read more

The 'Drawing, Discourses, and Debates' module is awful. Every lecture I watch I have no clue what point the lecturer was trying to make. The facilities are good but we only have one weekly workshop so if you actually want to learn anything, you have to be in workshops in your own time. (You have to book a spot, and there isn't always space). The rest of the time they just let you do whatever and then assess you on it. You're not really given feedback just ideas on how to develop your projects. An absolute nightmare for first years, nobody has any clue what they're doing. My personal tutor is lovely and he actually makes me want to suck it up and make the best of this course. read more

My personal tutor was basically non existent & I received no help ever, despite multiple emails. The teachers also provide very dry unsupportive help which is not that often, you’re basically alone for weeks at a time with zero guidance and I hope everyone applying is aware of that as it might not suit some people. The campus is good and lots of nice facilities & Amazing societies, but so sporty that for an artistic soul a bit intense. read more

I came to uni with a dream, that dream and all hopes for the future are now destroyed and sucked dry with all the incompetences here along with my self esteem, mental health and career prospects. All I hope for the future is that I never have to come to this place ever again. From start to finish the uni is unorganised and delivers unstimulating content, the sense of community here is a sham, if you are not a sport or engineering student you get little funding, minimum contact and the worse facilities. The union is extortionately priced, and is poorly structured. read more
