Really epic uni accommodation I really like it. However one time there was no Wi-Fi for like a week. All the staff are really nice.
Ive really enjoyed being here at astor. The staff are absolutely amazing, the buildings are all lovely and they host stuff in reception for events all throughout the year. Its definitely made my first year a lot easier and being so close to the sea and the city centre too is ideal :)

Amazing place to stay with friendly staff
Hi. Thanks for this high rating, we’re happy to hear you feel this way about living with us.
I chose Astor for the previous 2 years because of their exceptional costumer service and great rooms. Quality is not compromised and you get what you pay for. P.S Charmaine and Lesley are amazing for their work and always approachable :)
Hi. Thank you for this high rating. The team really appreciate it and are glad you enjoyed living with us at iQ Astor House.
I enjoyed my stay with IQ Astor so much that I’ve rebooked it for my second year. It quite close to the hoe and I enjoy taking walks or having picnics with a few of my friends.
Hello. Thanks for this high rating and for leaving your comments regarding your stay with us, we are pleased to hear it has been so positive!
I have a bronze en suite and I love it! The rooms are modern, the small double beds are amazing and are one of the main reasons i booked Astor. Most accommodations are single beds. There is crazy amounts of storage and massive desks. The bathrooms also have storage shelving and the showers are a good strength. They have a range of temperatures and are reliable. The staff are extremely nice and good at helping with whatever you need. Whenever there is something wrong or a maintenance problem you just write in the app about the problem and in the next 48 hours the maintenance team come to fix it. There are frequent deals in the reception such as this week we were given free bamboo toothbrushes. They are hosting a christmas fair at the end of November. The common room has a pool table, two TVs, sofa area, ping pong table, area for group TV watching with beanbags. It is a good distance from the uni (less than 15 minute walk). It is less than 10 minutes from the city centre.
Hi. Thanks for leaving such a lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed living with us and happy that you like the facilities here at iQ Astor House.
Price and quality of rooms is better than on campus accomodation but still expensive. Construction work going on almost every weekday. "Weekly cleaning service" only came 2/3 times. Contractors leave lots of mess. Contractors working in our kitchen most days of our last week so we couldn't use the kitchen while they were there. "Weekly fire alarm test" only happened half a dozen times. Only had a proper fire drill once. Rooms are boiling hot even with the windows open and fans on. Little to no sound proofing so you can hear flatmates through walls/doors and even with the windows shut, you can hear people talking outside. Lift in this block was often not working and usually smelled horrible. Social spaces were closed due to covid. Maintainace are usually quite quick at fixing issues. Some people have had security go into their flat and even their bedrooms for no reason. Overall, our own flat didn't feel very private as people were often in it, but the flat was good quality and quite big
Rooms and spaces are better for price then on campus but not by much. Cleaning services only came once or twice or when I had to ask for a cleaner as the contractors left a ridiculous amount of mess then did again the next day after I cleaned it myself. Weekly fire alarms only happened about 10 times throughout the whole stay. Today it went off 20 times before stopping. There is maintenance work everyday with loud noise when you are trying to work. We have had people in our flat almost every day for the last week and now checking fire alarms 2 days before we leave. It is supposed to be our home when we stay here but doesn't feel like it when they can't wait to clean the empty rooms and test fire alarms a week before we are leaving and having people constantly in our flat. We can't even go to the kitchen and access our stuff because they are in there. WiFi is either really good or really bad. Overall it could have been worse or could have been A LOT better for the price.
Solid halls right on the hoe, great and helpful staff always giving out things for free and setting up events whenever they can. Its a walk away from uni however its location is well worth it. Rooms are modern and great with fast internet.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're very pleased you enjoyed your experience in Plymouth with iQ!
Rooms and the overall site do look nice. Wide range of services as well, a fair few washing machines and dryers. However, compared to places nearby and the rest of the city the studios seem very overpriced for what you get. I’d encourage others to inquire about the room sizes, and storage space before booking.

Amazing quality of rooms and really modern, deffo best out there for your ££. Lots of storage in the rooms, super helpful staff (reception and maintainence), and ace common room spaces. Also really positive experience with them regarding rent and tenancy situation during Covid19, super reliable. Also very easy to book, online chat is brilliant, can help you to choose exact block/floor/flat and room you want, can also see age, gender and first name of your flat mates once booked.
Hello. Thanks for leaving this high rating, we really appreciate it.
I stayed here for 2 years, had a great time. Few maintenance problems and if there were they were resolved within a day or on a Monday after the weekend. Room was cozy, though the shower was a bit small. It fit me fine but if you're tall and big it might be a bit of a squeeze. Kitchen is big with lots of counter space. My only complaint is that the housekeepers are suppose to take out the rubbish, clean the counters and the floor. They never really do the floor. In terms of the social aspect, both years I was with very friendly and like-minded (quiet/non-party) flatmates. Y1 I applied through uni so filled out a personality quiz. For Y2 I asked reception for a quiet flat and they recommended ones for me to book. Sky lounge is a bit dirty and messy but I rarely go anyway. Few social events but I'm quite introverted so it didn't bother me. I was allowed to not pay for my final rent installment (released from contract) because I went back home due to COVID-19! Lovely gesture.

Great place to live. I moved here from another privately owned site (Discovery Heights) and wish I had done it sooner!!! Always someone available to retrieve parcels which isn't the case at all accomodation sites , the lack of reception cover was the main reason I left my previous dwellings. Weekends are business as usual with staff available for any thing needed. Book here you will not be disappointed.
Thank you for this lovely rating! We are glad you liked the round the clock availability of our staff while staying at iQ Astor House and we hope to see you around (again).
Rude staff, expensive and they'll try to con you out of money when you leave. Dont stay here!
The accommodation is honestly fine. After finishing my first year there I do have a few issues to pick at. The kitchen cleaners essentially just take out your bins - they do not wipe surfaces or anything else. Also, upon leaving, one of our ovens had only been partially cleaned by a flatmate. As a result...AN £85 FINE...£85!! It takes 15 minutes to blitz an oven and this charge seems over the top. Other than that it is the best student halls option in Plymouth. Just be cautious

Great place to be feels amazing value for money
Hello. Thanks for leaving this high rating, we really appreciate it.
Lovely modern halls, nicer than my friends'. Staff incapable of fixing anything for months even if it is your curtain and so have no curtain for months.... Cleaner is alright but doesnt turn up some weeks and forgets to hoover. I wish we had a hoover ourselves to do our rooms but there is only one for the whole two blocks of astor to share.. I do feel safe here as there are a few gates/doors to get through. 10 min walk to uni if i am power walking and only just make it.. 15 more realistic but personally i like this. Please book directly with prodigy living as cheaper than through uni
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate your feedback.
Perfect accommodation. Feels like home. Staff is friendly and the location is amazing.
Hi. Thanks for this high rating, we’re happy to hear you feel this way about living with us.
Majorly overpriced, stuff was broken or needed replacing. Cleaners never cleaned properly, and complaints were never dealt with properly.
Its a great hall with lots of activities and free food organised by the staff! The standard of the accommodation is amazing as the building is only 3 years old which makes the student mess appear more managable
Hello. Thanks for this high rating and for leaving your comments regarding your stay with us, we are pleased to hear it has been so positive!
Went and viewed Astor House as a potential Halls for myself to live in when I start university in September. Completely fell in love with it. Remarkable and modern decor throughout, spaceous rooms with lots of storage and bathroom still looks brand new! Sky lounge has amazing views looking out over Plymouth city and the barrbican, large common room on the ground floor where students can relax. Only a 10 minute walk to the main campus of Plymouth university. Staff are really friendly and welcoming, highly recommended. I cannot wait to move in this coming September!
Hi. Thanks for leaving such a lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed living with us and happy that you like the facilities here at iQ Astor House.
Best halls in terms of modernity. Best social events, only halls I know to give you free booze and breakfast regularly. A little on the pricey side but it's worth it compared to other halls. Only downside is its slightly further to the uni and the staff are apparently unable to do literally any thing on a Sunday other than sit at the desk.

If you're not too worried about budget, it's a nice place to live with nice rooms, kitchen and common room. Staff are nice and lots of events with free food on offer! Would like to have had a tv in the kitchen considering how much we're paying!

It was quite expensive but the rooms were a good size with nice en-suite bathrooms, although it was still partly a building site when I moved in. The location was fantastic, a few minutes walk from the Barbican in one direction and town & university in the other. The common rooms were giant and social events were quite good - The bouncy castle obstacle course around Easter time was great! The internet was good and the resident assistants and halls management team were always friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that there were no cleaners when I lived there.
Hello. Thanks for this high rating and for leaving your comments regarding your stay with us, we are pleased to hear it has been so positive!
I Loved Astor House and had a great year. Would highly recommend. Easily the best halls in Plymouth.
Hi. Thanks for this high rating, we’re happy to hear you feel this way about living with us.
Staff can be up themselves at the best of times. We had massive issues with the cleaners which staff didn't do anything about it and blamed us. Wifi is v. Good and if it is going down you get an email in advance- normally goes down for maintaince in the early hours of the morning so was never an issue! Location is nice but a good 15 minute walk to the uni. Lived In a 7 bed flat and only had one sink in the kitchen which caused issues of washing up ect. Not massive surface space in the kitchens for cooking ect
Great halls even if it's a little expensive.
Hello. Thanks for leaving this high rating, we really appreciate it.
apart from living with some absolutely mental people It has been quite nice living here
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate your feedback.
9 bed flat, massive kitchen + sitting area, have to clean kitchen and corridoor between rooms by yourself, love being by the Hoe, 10/15 minute walk to uni, expensive but virtually brand new so loads of storage space and lovely en suite. Useful tesco express downstairs.
Hi. Thanks for leaving such a lovely review, these comments are great to hear. We are very pleased you are enjoying living with us.
Ive paid so much moneu for this accommodation and yet its been a complete a total waste of my cash. £133 is not what astor house is worth.
Grrat value for money. Best part is you have someone at the reception willing to help or fix anythinng at anytime of the day.
Hi. Thanks for this high rating, we’re happy to hear you feel this way about living with us
Loud slamming doors, very strict, too warm, cheap fixtures that break easily

It was not finished when I moved in, but it was too expensive for what was provided.

Overpriced, don't get as much as one would expect. Becomes too hot and sticky in summer or hotter days. More regular cleaning would be very helpful! However the cleaners are delightful!
Great memories, a lot of fun, an amazing place to spend your first year at Plymouth uni!
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate your feedback.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. If something is broken tell the front desk and it'll be done within a day or two. Still relatively new, everything is clean and the showers are very good as are the beds. The building is very secure as well as having a spectacular view from the Skylounge which is the study room. Common room is very good. Only down side is that is a 10 minute walk from the university and good clubs/bars.
Hi. Thanks for leaving such a lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed living with us and happy that you like the facilities here at iQ Astor House.
Astor house is nice and modern and I was excited to move in, however after a few weeks you realise how poorly the building is built. The walls are really thin, you can hear everything. The location is great being by the hoe, especially in the sunshine and the sky lounge is a great place to chill or do work as it has great views. Overall though I've found that Astor house is far less social than the other halls at the uni.
Very noisy, extremely expensive
Great facilities, prices are extortionate. RA's are far too strict!

Great place to live, however is just too expensive. Only go if you gave a big loan or big pockets...

Hi. Thanks for this high rating, we’re happy to hear you feel this way about living with us.
gave me an amazing freshers experience, rent got way too expensive at times but you pay for what you get
Hello. Thanks for leaving this high rating, we really appreciate it.
Horrific, so expensive and everything fell appart. No deposit return either. Poor quality!
Besides for the price this is a great place to live. I would definitely come back to stay here again
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate your feedback.
fined for stuff that had been done by the people before!
It is a great place to stay, amazing staff that will do anything to help as well as put on events to bring all students together.
Hi. Thanks for leaving such a lovely review, these comments are great to hear. We are very pleased you are enjoying living with us.
The halls are very modern and will probably remain that way for years to come; however it is about 20-25min walk to the uni campus and about the same to north hill or the SU, about 4mins in a taxi to oceana that will cost around £3.30, so not to bad. There are no cleaning services part from moving in day or the day you move out. The security is excellent you will feel very secure even though you are on a main road. The rooms are quiet and you do get good sunlight in the summer into your rooms as its south facing. There are either flats of 5 -9 rooms or studio flats, also all the flats are easily accessible so easy to make friends with other flats. The kitchens/lounge are spacious and very modern with modern appliances and are great for flat parties! The rooms are nice and warm in the winter and have built in A/C for the summer, and its temperature controlled so you dont have to worry about a thing as it will do it all for you, but if you do want to change it you can.
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate your feedback.
Astor house is fantastic, no more expensive than the other halls at Plymouth. Double beds, en - suite, spacious modern kitchen, plenty of storage. The only issues I have is the price of the laundry, you have to buy a card with either £5 (which isn't enough), £10 or £20, also the cleaners are okay but not great.
Hi. Thanks for leaving this feedback, we are sorry to hear about this. If you would like to discuss this further, please do get in touch with us on: hello@iqstudent.com.
Free things: Pancakes, Fruit, Easter eggs, Pizza and other bits + sofas and double beds
Hello. Thanks for leaving this high rating, we really appreciate it.
There could have been more social events at Astor in the first term rather than all before the year is up. It's also great in terms of it says it's 10 minutes away from uni but I always get there in 7. The cleaner didn't start off well but she does a really good job now. Plus Astor house does offer a lot of great days and events and really listens to the residents.
