I was super scared when I arrived, because of all the stories about pests online. So far though, Max Rayne is pleasantly surprised me! My room is cosy, and has more fixtures and fittings then were mentioned online and the cleaners come around more often than expected.
Max Rayne is a disgusting pile of bricks, infested with cockroaches (2 breeds) and mice, which UCL have failed to exterminate for over 5 years. The ancient windows and non-closing vents which let in the freezing outdoor draughts are a homely touch, in addition to the holes in bedroom walls and missing furniture. Having said that, if you want to come to UCL, it is the cheapest uni accommodation and the bus does stop right outside. Just hope that you're not allocated a 'through' corridor, which, unlike all of the other flats, has no lock on the door, making it necessary to literally lock yourself in your own room, if you do not desire to be intruded on by any of the 300 people in the building and/or strange, middle aged men terrorising female students in the middle of the night, because security is just that good. Also, don't leave your window open on the ground floor, because your laptop will get stolen.
