It was good… but sometimes lonely when you don’t have friends… got heart broken at some point but kept going bcs everything happens for a reasons and some experience are better to have now than later… met some new people stopped talking to some but I’m grateful for all. I’ve just finished my first year at De Montfort University, and overall it’s been a practical and comfortable experience. The biggest difference from Chinese universities is block teaching—we focus on one module at a time, which helps me concentrate, and feedback comes back quickly. Teachers are approachable and encourage discussion in seminars. The campus is small and right in the city centre. The library is open 24/7, and my en-suite flat costs about £140–£150 a week including bills, much cheaper than London. Leicester is affordable and diverse, with London only an hour by train. I joined a badminton club and made friends easily. DMU isn’t a famous ancient university, but for me the value is high: solid teaching, good support, and a comfortable city. It’s a down-to-earth choice, and I’ve enjoyed my time here. read more

The campus facilities used to be great untill they fired loads of technicians and completely got rid of the food-hall. Disappointing as now the only places you can get food are food trucks which are way to expensive for uni students read more
