I have thoroughly enjoyed the history course provided at Warwick, with research interests varied to suit my personal interests in scientific racism throughout the ages and research into the intersection between history and medicine.

My course only had 6-8 contact hours a week so is very independent, which is good or bad depending on how you function. I would have liked more contact hours as a 50 minute seminar split between 16 people is a bit difficult. The quality of teaching is good, I believe some tutors don't always deliver with the consciousness that this may be the first time we have studied their topic and act like we should know more than we do. The content is actually very good! some topics are under developed like modern religious content due to not having a variety of modern religious historians. However, I like that we have the chance to pick the majority of our content and a lot of the topics are quite niche. Such as deviancy and non-conformity or Narcos. My personal tutor has been alright for the most part, but all of them feel quite impersonal despite uni being a personal experience. Not to say that they should want to know everything, but I want a connection to know I can be honest and open read more

Teaching varies with the tutor but is overall pretty good. Lectures are usually captured (depending on the module), although attending in person is better. There is a wide range of modules, and the mandatory y1 modules are interesting. There are also numerous international placement opportunities, either 1 year placements abroad in y3 (so your degree would become 4 years) or 1 term in Venice in y3 (degree remains 3 years). 4 modules over the year, my only complaint would be that the workload seems to be higher than pretty much everyone doing Humanities at least with the amount of reading. Usually 2-3 hours per module per week + 4-5 pieces of assessed work per year. Job prospects seem to be good for a history module. Also quite forward-thinking in its study of history, which I'd argue is a good thing - for example the medical history module looks in depth at the effects of British colonial rule on local populations. read more

Don't think anything can be good enough to be paying £9k a year for it, but quality of teaching is good and all. 2 core and 2 optional module choices and I have an assignment for each one each term, which isn't as bad as people who have exams every week or so. I've met my personal tutor once and it was pretty quick, but they're more useful if you actually contact them with problems of course. Course content is really interesting. Job prospects are as good as any I guess? read more
