Required subjects for Business Management and Modern Languages BSc Hons at University of Surrey
Required subjects: A-level French or Spanish.
Candidates who are not taking A-level French or Spanish will be invited to study the Ab Initio (absolute beginner) pathway, for which there are no formal language requirements.
GCSE or equivalent: English Language at Grade 4 (C) and Mathematics at Grade 4 (C).

My course is really good First year wasn't my favourite, mainly because everyone studying business management starts on the same modules regardless of their specific pathway, so it didn't feel very applicable to entrepreneurship and innovation. It felt a bit boring at times, not even particularly challenging if I'm honest. Second year I did a placement, and now in final year it's been really good - challenging, but in a good way. The modules are much more relevant to your specific pathway, and most of the course content and assessments have been genuinely informative and interesting. First semester especially has been really engaging in terms of what we've been studying. The teachers are good as well and the teaching quality is solid. In terms of job prospects, the course aligns really well with careers and the kind of support available. What you study genuinely shapes where you could go, and I think Surrey has set that up nicely. Overall, it's a good course - I'm glad I chose it. read more

The quality of teaching was outstanding. The professors explained complex topics in a way that was clear and approachable, which boosted my confidence in understanding the material without feeling overwhelmed. The lectures were engaging, and the teaching style was interactive without being overly pressurizing. This allowed me to contribute at my own pace, without the intense fear of being singled out or feeling anxious about speaking up in front of others. Helpful Feedback and Support: One of the best aspects was how approachable the professors were outside of class. The feedback on assignments was constructive and personalized, helping me improve without making me feel criticized. Their understanding nature made it easier to open up about any struggles I was having, whether academic or personal. As much as I love Surrey university, I feel that the business department does lack sometimes in terms of the content of the business course. Every year they are changing the structure and modules to try improve it. I feel that the modules are quite 'dry' and not very interactive. A lot of it is based on learning theory and applying it in exams. The first year you will study 8 compulsory modules, 2nd year you'll study 6 compulsory and two optional. And then final year there is 4 of each. I guess as this is a Bsc therefore it's more exam based rather assignments or coursework. Most of the coursework that you will receive is either a report, essay or a presentation with can be either independent or group. Also as this is a very international university, this means that most of the lectures are also international and sometimes it is extremely hard to understand and focus on the lecture - especially when it's very intense lectures such as 'Business Finance' or 'Financial Accounting'. read more
