Psychology, BSc Hons FullTime

I have really enjoyed studying psychology at the University of Southampton. The course covers a wide range of interesting topics, from neuroscience and research methods to social and cognitive psychology, which keeps the content engaging and varied. The lecturers are knowledgeable and supportive, and there is always help available if you are struggling with any aspect of the course. The modules are well structured and encourage both independent learning and teamwork, helping students develop valuable skills for the future. One of the best things about the course is the balance between theory and practical research. The opportunities to take part in studies and learn how psychological research is conducted have made the subject even more interesting. Overall, psychology at Southampton is a challenging but rewarding course that provides excellent support and plenty of opportunities to develop both academically and personally. read more

I’ve found the psychology course at the University of Southampton to be really engaging, especially because it covers a wide range of topics at the start before becoming more research-focused later on. I like that it teaches you how to think critically and analyse data, not just memorise theories. The teaching is generally good, and there is solid support, but it does require a lot of independent study, which can be challenging. However, there is quite a heavy focus on research methods and statistics, which isn’t always the most interesting part. Though overall, it is a very strong course. read more

Not for me. Only 2/5 lecturers are decent. To be honest though, I picked psych cause I was good at it at A level - not because I enjoyed it. If you are genuinely passionate, you may like the course? Just about? Piece of advice, go with something you are good at AND enjoy - otherwise you will drop out early on and waste money. read more
