Its been alright, content is good and engaging. Puts pressure on you to be actively involved in what they teach in lectures. Lecturers could be a lot leas brief as background reading still doesn't explain exactly what they mean. read more

I personally really enjoyed the practical side which is what I believed I would be paying for as well as the lectures, but the practicals (although easy for me to understand) were scarce and got even more so as we went further into the year. The beginning (and kind of only) ones in the first year aren’t even really that interesting and were set-ups like how to use the equipments “for later practicals” that never actually happened. There was the odd lecturer (about one maybe two) that you could tell was excited to teach us but most of the lecturers just see it as a stepping stone they have to cross to be able to do their own research or further their own career. The tutor I was given seemed to know plymouth uni as much, or perhaps even less so than I did. She has been here for a year only and when she was giving us our tour of the resources she was only then beginning to introduce herself to faculty that had been there a while. When asked direct questions she often couldn’t answer. read more

Mixed ability course, so can be hard for some and boring for others. First year is not that hard. Too easy to redo exams or make up coursework, so pretty much everyone passes. Exams are multiple choice, so not hard. Lectures rarely last the scheduled time. Labs are good, and interesting. Teaching is mixed - some very good, some very bad. My tutor is great, but it is luck of the draw! read more
