Games Computing, BSc Hons FullTime

Personally I have not enjoyed studying this course in the first year. This is primarily due to the lecturers and course content. While the games specific lecturers are passionate and deliver genuinely interesting lessons, the general computer science lecturers seem like they don't care or want to be there. Especially in workshops, they rarely engage with students (they just sit at the front while students complete the set work) which in my opinion makes them unapproachable. In lectures they tend not to explain content well or go over it too fast, meaning I struggle to understand it and have to teach myself a lot of the time. Getting to design and develop your own games is definitely the most enjoyable part, however you surprisingly don't get to do this very often. Because of this, the course is more theory based than practical (you have to write more essays than you would expect) which I found boring. One benefit is the up-to-date computer lab facilities. read more
