Some issues with WiFi in certain accomodation rooms, some of which you will have to fix independently. Careers support is great from lecturers but at careers fairs don't expect any jobs/ talks from areas outside of teaching or engineering. read more

Herts is honestly a solid uni. The campus is modern and really easy to get around—the library being 24/7 is a lifesaver during deadlines, and the facilities (especially for engineering/health/computer science) are impressive. Lecturers are generally approachable and actually reply to emails, which makes a big difference. There’s a good mix of societies and the sports village is decent, plus Hatfield’s only about 25 mins to London by train. Downsides? Some buildings could do with more plug sockets, and halls quality varies depending on which one you get. If you live off-campus, the commute can get annoying fast—I’d recommend halls in first year. Socially it’s quite diverse, so don’t expect a traditional campus vibe, but most people find their group. Overall: good facilities, supportive staff, and very career-focused. Not flashy or prestigious, but genuinely decent if you want a practical degree and don’t want to pay London prices. 7.5/10. read more

I have started my postgraduate degree in Audio Engineering and so far, I have had a brilliant time. I have learnt so much from the staff here and the music facilities, including the studio rooms and equipment loan store, are fantastic. There are also great study areas, societies, cafes and the library is extensive. There is great wifi service and free applications for students. We have so many resources and I feel I am in the best place to succeed. read more

The Wi-Fi is very good for any desktop or laptop device, but is slightly unreliable for mobile devices. Accommodation is good generally but there are often problems with the locks and fire alarms. Accommodation is also very expensive, one of the most expensive I’ve seen. The facilities are good but the gym is expensive. read more

Hatfield is a relatively quiet town rather than a major student city. The university has two main campuses, College Lane and de Havilland. If you enjoy campus life, making friends through societies and having access to London, it could suit you. If you want a lively city atmosphere every day, you might find the town less exciting. read more
