Here at Hythe, I have truly never felt more at home. I joined in first year and it felt both daunting and exciting; being in a new city and trying settle into a new home, but the people and the staff here made settling in super easy. I studied a lot better here due to the open spaces and motivation from other students. Most importantly, due to the support of students and staff, I was able to come out of my shell a lot more during a very difficult time of my personal life during my stay. I have never felt more supported and seen and I would 100% recommend staying here. All issues are handled extremely quickly by the staff and the view is in my room is beautiful. I have really enjoyed my time at Hythe and will continue to stay here because it truly made me feel at home and I think that’s what the university experience is all about read more

I had a very positive experience at the University of Essex. The university has a welcoming atmosphere and provides a good environment for both studying and meeting new people. The campus is well organised, with a good range of facilities available to students, including libraries, study areas, sports facilities, cafés, and social spaces. One of the things I appreciated most was the overall student environment. There are students from many different backgrounds and nationalities, which makes the university feel diverse and inclusive. There are also plenty of societies, activities, and events, making it relatively easy to get involved outside of studying and meet other students. read more

As I’m still a relatively new student at the university, I haven’t been here long enough to comment on every aspect of university life. However, based on my experience so far, I’ve had a really positive impression of the university and feel that I’ve settled in well. One of the things I’ve noticed most is the overall atmosphere. There seems to be a friendly and welcoming environment, which has made starting university feel much less intimidating. As a new student, beginning university can be quite a big adjustment, so having an environment where it’s easy to meet people and feel comfortable has been really important. read more

The SU is probably the university’s saving grace at the moment. There’s plenty of clubs and societies, you might not get on with all of them, but you’ll find one that suits you for definite. The uni is currently undergoing funding issues (but it’s hard to find a uni isn’t at the moment) but it’s genuinely very homely. read more
