Most lectures are very clear, and helpful when it comes to new content however some tutors are unhelpful, and there has been one occasion where a lecturer has been considered unhelpful in my opinion. read more

Law and International Relations, LLB Hons FullTime

I am enjoying the degree a lot. It is a lovely balance of learning the law but also understanding its scope in a global context through IR. I do wish the strikes had not affected my studies the way they did as I have had to teach myself most of the work, which is outrageous as an international fee paying student read more

Very interesting subjects were offered that you can't find at any other university. Progressive and future-oriented course content. Professors are in part highly specialized and experts in their field. However, core subjects were cancelled last minute without providing adequate replacements. In addition, the participation of the students in some courses leaves much to be desired; the seminars are designed for interactive discussions. If hardly anyone participates, this course format makes little sense. I found it a pity that there are hardly any local students in the LLM. read more

I’m only in my first year and it’s a lot of work, the only thing is that guidance is very slow within Wdinburgh at the moment in terms of the course. You have to go looking forward it and stuff like that which can be quite inconvenient. But the course is law so of course it’s going to be hard but the tutors are nice and willing to help in whatever way they can. read more

The support, not just within the law department, but University-wide, is shocking. The role of personal tutor is a facade, these are just overworked academics who do not have the time or patience to deal with students. Any academic queries you have go unanswered. Grading is arbitrary. read more

Scots law is a bit antiquainted with an emphasis on case law memorisation instead of analysis and knowledge. The teaching staff had far too many PhD. student teaching courses or tutorials for the tuition fees. The renovation of Old College is very well done and provides comfortable learning and social spaces with a historic building read more

A joint law degree makes me 3 times more employable. More over, Edinburgh is one of Scotland's top law schools and has a beautiful law building too! The teaching staff are truly experts in their field so you know you are being taught by the best. My personal tutor is always there whenever I need her and always goes the extra mile as my degree is not all too common. Course content is so varied! With law, you obviously have set subjects but electives allow you to choose something different too. read more
