There is not an option here to discuss the treatment of students when they are enrolling. Last year (1st year for my degree), I had accommodation sorted WITH the univeristy, I had all my occupational health checks done, I was told I am going to the university and that my student finance was sorted. Then, come a week before, I realised I had not actually been enrolled, I rang up the admissions team, they told me that the course was full and that I should try next year- this is a student who was moving into one of the universities managed accommodation, which i told them about- suddenly they have space on the course. Fast forward to now second year of the degree- to re enroll onto the course. The same has happened again, I have arranged accommodation, I have had welcome videos from my lecturers, sfe sorted- but it is the 10th of september, and I still have not enrolled-the course starts next week. Its not just me, I have talked to everyone on my course, who say the same thing! read more

The university is great physically, and it does provide a wide range of courses taught by professionals who know what they are doing and are passionate. I really love the social and study areas that are provided, these are one of the main perks. There’s a diverse range of places for food and drink, and the prices of these aren’t all that steep. However, the university’s priorities seem to have changed a little bit - it seems they are more focused on their appearances (as seen with the new Cavendish building) than actually student well-fare and need. This comes with an increased bus fare (from free to paid) when students already have enough to pay out; as a student with a hidden disability this honestly felt like a kick in the teeth - and when the campaign for this was launched, the student union failed to back us, which was disappointing. Not only that, but their disabilities team at the university are shocking - from my personal experiences - and do a lot of invalidating. read more
