Overall, I feel very lucky to be studying this course. Each tutor has been passionate about their subject and that is infectious. Each year of study there has been a great range of units to choose from, sometimes making it hard to choose between. The year abroad offered in Third Year, however, is exceptional, and has been my favourite year so far. It is a very unique opportunity and although daunting at first, it becomes your own valuable journey of discovery of culture and language that will bring touching moments and unforgettable memories. As cliché as that sounds, one cannot be totally prepared for what this year brings, and it is a great moment of self-growth that you can feel happening each day. read more

Comparative Literatures and Cultures, BA FullTime
For me, this is the greatest course in the world, and I think it's a massive shame that so few people have heard of it. Comp lit is interdisciplinary and decolonial, two things that are both rare and incredibly enriching. Its a lot like an internationally focused version of Liberal Arts. So far, outside of the core modules, I've taken units in Italian, German, and Russian literature and film, English, and a few modules looking at different cultural productions in relation to critical issues. This course is so vital, and so exploratory. I enjoyed my English module but it gave me an even greater appreciation for the subject that I take. It's still fairly new as of 2025, so there have been a few issues with unit leaders not knowing what our course is, but our course leader is incredibly hard-working and dedicated to her students, so things are sorted out with efficiency. I sincerely hope comparative literature and cultures gets more recognition in the future. read more
