This university has a very warm and supportive atmosphere, where students and teachers interact openly and respectfully. The learning environment is both relaxed and motivating. Being a final-year student at UoB has been a genuinely rewarding experience, both academically and personally. The course has been challenging in the right ways, pushing me to develop strong problem-solving skills, independence, and a deeper understanding of my field. The lecturers have generally been supportive and knowledgeable, and I’ve appreciated the balance between theory and practical application, especially in labs and project work. One of the highlights has been the final-year project, which allowed me to explore an area I’m genuinely interested in while applying everything I’ve learned over the past few years. It’s been demanding, but also one of the most fulfilling parts of my degree. Beyond academics, university life here has been vibrant. There are plenty of societies, events, and opportunities to meet people from different backgrounds, which made it easy to build friendships and grow in confidence. read more

The University of Birmingham is overall a really great university, and I do genuinely see why it has such a strong reputation. The teaching is solid, the opportunities are there, and it feels like a place that can really help you build your future. At the same time, if I am being honest, the social side and overall student life feel a little lacking. The university itself is impressive, but the atmosphere can sometimes feel quieter and less connected than I expected. So overall, I have a lot of respect for it and think it is an amazing university, even if the social experience does not fully match that. read more
