I love the course, campus, and culture. The lecturers are all incredibly supportive and the course itself engaging and varied (you can customise your learning experience to your interests). There is also a great student life with many options to engage in non-academic interests and socialise with other students. read more

University of Birmingham

I chose to study at the University of Birmingham because it was one of few universities offering my course - a BA in three modern languages (German, French and Russian in my case). Since starting here, I have loved every minute of it. The staff are passionate, highly knowledgeable (most are active researchers), and supportive. The course is interesting and engaging. The campus is stunningly beautiful. I have also been able to work on campus for the university during my studies which has been a brilliant way to meet new friends across the university. There are many different societies to join and the student body is friendly. I am hoping to stay on and study an MA at the University too. Russian was a new language for me, starting at university. I have been delighted at my progress. The ab initio programme is very supportive, but fast-paced and I have enjoyed every moment. The University of Birmingham offers competitive contact hours for modern languages which is really important. read more

My experience at the University of Birmingham has been extremely positive and rewarding. The campus and facilities are outstanding, modern, well-maintained, and well designed for both studying and leisure. The libraries, study spaces, and digital infrastructure strongly support academic work, especially at postgraduate level. Student life is vibrant and inclusive, with a diverse international community. There are many clubs and societies, making it easy to meet people, pursue interests, and feel part of a community. The Student Guild is a real highlight: it is well organised, supportive, and very active in organising social, cultural, and professional events. Academically, my course (MSc Bioinformatics) has been challenging but highly rewarding. The teaching is research-led, the staff are approachable, and the course provides strong preparation for research and industry careers. The workload can be intense at times, especially initially, but the academic support available makes it mana read more

Overall, the experience at the apartment was excellent. The front desk staff were warm, professional, and easy to communicate with, which made me feel very comfortable and at ease. Both the public facilities and the in-room amenities were well equipped, making daily life very convenient. The environment was clean and well maintained, and the stay was truly comfortable. Overall, it offers great value for money, and I would definitely choose to stay here again. read more

During my time here so far, I have had a great experience. The moving into accommodation process was simple, being allocated a time slot to move in and helped by student ambassadors. That week, there were events such as a Pizza Party to help settle into university - free to students living in accommodation and a good way to meet people living around you. Course delivery has been of high standard. For each module we start with an introduction lecture which outlines the learning outcomes of the module, how to contact the lecturers and assessment methods so that we know what to expect. Content is presented in a variety of ways such as online textbooks, practical sessions, computer labs, lectures and seminars. Student life here is fun too! There are so many societies to try out - with many taster sessions to try out new things at the beginning of the academic year. The Guild website lists all events for accommodation and all students - so it's easy to find things to go to. read more

I’ve really enjoyed my time at UOB I’ve made friends for life and have always felt well supported by the university and my course. The transition to university was definitely daunting however there were so many different events and opportunities to meet new people that I was able to find a good group of friends really quickly. There are so many different society’s there’s really something for anyone and they’re really welcoming so are an amazing way to make friends and to try some brand new things. The campus is stunning with a really great sense of community, there’s a lot of different career support available with a website that provides a range of different services and ways to book meetings with specific career advisors to help with things like your cv. read more

I have really enjoyed my time at the University of Birmingham. I gained so much independence when moving away from home in my first year and felt supported by the university in doing so. My course has interesting and well organised content, with experienced lecturers who can provide insight into the profession and guidance. I have been adequately supported in finding clinical placements to further my learning. I have also been encouraged to participate in a variety of social events and societies, which are some of my favourite memories from my time here. There are small aspects of my course that could improve, but overall I have thoroughly enjoyed my almost 4 years studying here! read more

I've had an amazing time studying at the University of Birmingham. I'm now in my final year, having undertaken a placement year last year. The extracurricular and career opportunities have shaped my experience the most and helped me land my dream graduate role. The staff are incredibly supportive, the student societies are vast and welcoming and the uni have invested a lot into new facilities and student experiences. The campus is always been improved with the opening of our new train station and molecular sciences building most recently. There's plenty of study spaces with charging points all across campus. The library is great because it's open 24/7 during term time, which helps during assessment season. The library has an Academic Skills Centre too, who helped me in first year when I was struggling with referencing and structuring my essays. There's so many accommodation options to choose from, and again there's a couple new ones too. read more

The University of Birmingham has an amazing campus, with lots of facilities such as cafes, restaurants, study spots, gym and sports pitches, and a music hall. It is well located, being the only uni in the country to have its own train station, and is close to the city centre which has a main train station and lots of shops and restaurants. There are lots of societies to pick from, and the accommodation options are all really great and close to campus. I've made amazing friends, through my course, societies and accommodation. read more

Go UOB if you like the party life and love sports and gym. The campus is good however I feel like sports science has had less money invested on as the buildings look old. They have a state of the art gym however it is pricey for accommodation. read more

Going from school to uni was a big change for me, especially because this wasn't the course I initially intended to do. But there were so many opportunities to integrate into uni life, regardless of how much I already knew. I am a commuter, so staying late (especially as the days got shorter) for society events was not something that seemed possible and so, I thought I wouldn't be able to get involved in any of them. But there are just so many societies and event times have such a broad range, that I was still able to get involved. read more
