Classics and Ancient History, BA Hons FullTime
I've loved so many modules in my course! From diving deeper into the specifics of historical events to topics like Pompeii, the transformation of the Roman Empire, and the Greek (and Roman) world. I've also enjoyed studying 20th and 21st-century writing to observe how the topic of classics has evolved in literature and modern times. Also, choosing a new module for next term is so hard as the options are so cool and interesting! Each lecture seminar brings a fresh perspective on each topic. Challenging how we see, interpret, and discover the ancient world and the rip effect it has. I can raise my hand and feel comfortable asking questions, and debate with other classmates about the ideas in class. Even talking to my tutors feels relaxed, talking about the subject or any concerns I have (including email and office hours). Especially with my personal tutor, where I can discuss this further in a comfortable and productive environment to improve and recognise my achievements.

The cost can be extremely expensive for international students, but It’s the average level in Britain education system, if a student chooses to study in London or choose business school, the cost can be much more higher, so there are nothing to complain. The quality of education is extremely great, the resources to study is rich and the atmosphere is free and supportive, the teachers are highly professional in their field and so patient and responsive to students. Great experiences to study in that program. read more

I’ve really enjoyed my MA History course at Birmingham. Seminars are small and discussion-focused, and lecturers are approachable specialists who provide detailed feedback on essays and dissertations. Support is excellent, with personal tutors, dissertation supervisors, and all lecturers offering regular office hours that anyone can drop into, making it easy to get guidance and stay on top of postgraduate study. read more

History has been an excellent course at the University of Birmingham and has been taught to a very high standard throughout my degree. The level of contact hours has been reasonable overall, although I would have appreciated slightly more, particularly in second and third year where they decreased quite noticeably. That said, this reduction was largely balanced by the increased independent workload, especially in third year due to the dissertation, which made the structure manageable. The quality of teaching has been consistently strong, and I have particularly valued one-to-one meetings and personal tutor sessions, which have been extremely helpful. The course content itself has also been engaging and well designed. Overall, my experience studying History at the University of Birmingham has been very positive. read more

For me personally, the rating for course content is quite low. This is very subjective, however. I've very much enjoyed my course so far, and I am looking forward to taking a year studying abroad and using the University's immense resources to aid my dissertation. read more
