Welcoming and friendly with a variety of campuses

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has three main campuses in South West Wales - Swansea, Carmarthen and Lampeter - plus campuses in London and Birmingham and learning centres in Cardiff. The university also delivers programmes in the community at several outreach development centres.

Swansea

Students studying at UWTSD Swansea are at the heart of a seaside city that is big enough to offer space to grow and small enough to make you feel at home.

The university’s locations include some of the city’s most beautiful historic buildings and newest, most innovative ones. All offer easy access to shopping, entertainment, culture and nightlife, as well as opportunities for sport.

The vibrant village of Mumbles, with its bars and restaurants, pier and castle, and the glorious Gower peninsula, are both just a few miles up the road.

City-centre campuses

UWTSD has a reputation for delivering innovative, industry-led and career-driven programmes at its two distinct city-centre campuses - SA1 Waterfront, and Swansea College of Art.

SA1 Swansea Waterfront

UWTSD's £350m development, in the city’s maritime quarter, is on the Wales Coastal Path, next to the marina and a five-mile stretch of sandy beach. The main building, the IQ, is where students develop fresh ideas and innovations with STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics) subjects, accessing specialist equipment for their studies and projects. The IQ is also home to UWTSD’s education and teacher education programmes in Swansea. The excellent new library, Y Fforwm, with its extensive views of the city and sea, is just a few steps away from the IQ.

Swansea College Of Art

UWTSD’s Dynevor and Alexandra Road campus buildings, at the heart of the city’s art quarter near the internationally renowned Glynn Vivan art gallery, are home to the Swansea College of Art. Students study a wide variety of award-winning art and design courses here, enjoying the space and access to superb equipment. The annual degree show is a popular cultural event that allows students to display their talent and creativity across the city and beyond.

Carmarthen

Students enjoy an immersive campus experience at UWTSD Carmarthen. It is a lively, friendly environment boasting a range of facilities, including a library, fully equipped theatre and workshops, music, media and IT suites, swimming pool, gym, sports hall and modern teaching spaces. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy sport, exercise and the natural surroundings. Plays, musical performances, film screenings, talks and exhibitions are among the entertainment and cultural opportunities on campus.

Cynefin, a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, is just a 20-minute walk away. The Wales Coast Path runs through this magnificent green site that includes a mountain bike skills area, pump track, bushcraft area, campsite and Forest School. There is also direct access for the River Towy. It is home to a huge wildlife area and, with support from the Woodland Trust, nearly 1,000 trees have been planted on the site.

The only Welsh language television channel in the world, S4C, has moved its headquarters to the campus. The public service broadcaster’s new home, the award-winning Canolfan S4C Yr Egin, is a creative industries hub for the region that brings potential for work experience and job opportunities as well as a programme of events.

Carmarthen town centre’s shops, entertainment and nightlife are just a short walk away from campus. Carmarthen is just half an hour from the Brecon Beacons and the beautiful sandy beaches of Pembrokeshire where students can get active with some of the best sea kayaking, coasteering, mountain biking and rock climbing in the world. These stunning backdrops lend themselves to UWTSD’s exciting courses.

At UWTSD Carmarthen, students can study a range of hands-on, active programmes, from Nursing Studies to Adventure Filmmaking, Performing Arts to Sports Science, Early Years to Teaching, Applied Psychology to Advocacy. Students are well placed to get out of the classroom, take centre stage and inspire the next generation, learning from the pros and gaining the skills and knowledge needed to take on the world as a highly employable graduate.

Lampeter

Set in an idyllic rural location, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s historic Lampeter campus, where higher education in Wales began, offers a supportive student experience in a close-knit community environment.

The library and the Roderic Bowen Special Collections & Archives together hold around 275,000 printed volumes. The UWTSD Special Collections and Archives house UWTSD’s oldest printed books, manuscripts and archives and form a principal resource for academic research in Wales.

All the university’s accommodation at Lampeter is on its beautiful green campus, just a few steps away from a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs in the vibrant market town.

Attractions around the area include the Brecon Beacons, beautiful beaches and coastal towns.

Cardiff

UWTSD Cardiff is a conservatoire style campus that nurtures the dancers, singers, directors and performers of the future. Degrees in Vocal Performance to Musical Theatre will set you up for a career in the spotlight. Students develop a broad understanding of the creative industries from Wales to the world, with strong links to leading companies in the capital and beyond.

Wales Academy of Voice & Dramatic Arts (WAVDA)

Building on the success of both the Wales International Academy of Voice and Canolfan Berfformio Cymru, WAVDA is a hub of creativity, developing the actors, singers and directors of the future.

The work ethic of the Academy is based on respect and collaboration. Students work with renowned industry experts refining their art in readiness for their careers. Undergraduate programmes are dedicated to training and developing performers of the future. Based in the heart of Cardiff, these innovative and challenging degrees offer industry-standard training alongside relevant experiences to prepare students for a career in the arts.

London

UWTSD’s London campus boasts a wide range of computing, business management, accounting, and health and social care courses, from Business Management to Applied Computing and skills for the workplace programmes. The campus also offers postgraduate courses such as the Master of Business Administration (MBA) with multiple pathways including Banking and Finance, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, as well as the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme.

Birmingham

UWTSD Birmingham has learning centres located on Stratford Road, in the vibrant Sparkhill neighbourhood, and in Birmingham City Centre. They provide opportunities for people of all backgrounds to study a higher education programme in their community.

Since opening, Sparkhill in March 2018 and the Quay Place Centre in 2020, UWTSD’s Birmingham centres have developed into thriving learning spaces where students are able to learn new skills for the workplace, develop their existing skills, build confidence and meet others with similar goals.
