While I truly appreciate the university’s potential in fostering a mixed-race and culturally diverse future, it’s clear that the focus on financial gain has overshadowed the original mission of promoting integration and cultural understanding. There seems to be a disconnect between students of different backgrounds, with a growing number of students from wealthier backgrounds, and a lack of effort to integrate students across years and modules. The only real avenue for integration appears to be through the student union, which feels insufficient. The university has the opportunity to be a beacon of cultural harmony, but it seems to fall short when it comes to fostering a truly inclusive environment on a day-to-day basis. read more
