Computer Science, BSc Hons FullTime

Computer Science at Surrey wasn't great. Whilst some lecturers were great and easy to get along with many others had some very poorly designed modules which were an absolute nightmare. At the end of each semester you are given a chance to give feedback about a module but from what I've seen this changes absolutely nothing - feedback is generally completely ignored. Nothing is more stressful than having to do coursework that is poorly described, or sitting an exam where the questions are vague. Placement was a ripoff as the uni charge you ~£2k to go on placement. As an excuse to charge you this they give you a load of pointless work to do. The work has zero intellectual merit and is an utter waste of time. If you are going to do a placement year (which I do recommend as I managed to learn a lot) see if you can take a year out and just do the placement during that year. It will save you from being scammed £2000 from Surrey and you'll avoid doing that pointless work. read more
