This is written at the end of first year, so is by no means comprehensive. It's duller than I expected; having applied with visions of superconductors and aerogels, the reality of steel and concrete was a bit of a comedown. That said, there are still interesting aspects and you need first year content to go further, I imagine. Labs are really good. Take the time to understand what you'll be doing beforehand and they're super well run, super valuable and in awesome facilities. The workload is pretty light, but it's definitely worth trying hard all year round- you'll reduce your exam stress a lot if you've got a good 30% of your marks banked from coursework. read more
