I would only study this course if you are 100% passionate about being a journalist and you know it’s what you want to do. I’ve found the course disappointing so far and quite boring. The NCTJ part of the course such as short hand & the exams is hard but the other content is not. I really don’t think Its worth the the money I have payed and I expected it to be more exiting and for filling. I will say the tutors and staff are very good and kind, it’s also a smaller course so it’s quite friendly. In terms of jobs this hasn’t been discussed as of yet in first year, but I feel you don’t particularly need this degree for a job in the industry! It’s something you could easily learn on the job. read more

I've really enjoyed my course this year and can't wait to learn more in 2nd and 3rd year. I love this course because not only do we get to learn a lot in a year, the course also provide us lots of opportunities so we can really get stuck in. For example I've been able to find work experience very easily in Sheffield because we constantly get emails from the department about every opportunity related to journalism that's available in Sheffield and other regions and I think that's so important. I'm also able to study abroad next year and really get a lot out of the course. The teachers are amazing and are always giving feedbacks on our work. The department itself is also amazing with all the new technologies we have to work with. Overall I've really enjoyed my course and I'm very excited for what's more to come in the 2nd and 3rd year read more
