There’s a reasonable amount of overlap with A-level in the first year, but the maths side kept me on my toes. I got 5 assignments in my first semester, but I’ve managed to handle it (make sure you stay on top of them!!). Regular ‘quizzes’ (mini exams) instead of sitting in a hall for a big final exam is a nice change to A-level in the first year, but I’m sure they will change as I move on to later years (I’m a fresher writing this). Lecturers are all intelligent and nice, make sure you pay attention even if you think you know it all. read more

A lot of contact hours, around 23 first semester, so definitely getting value for money. A lot of labs with 3rd/4th year demonstrators to help if you are stuck. A bit difficult to catch up with if you have never done computer science before still manageable. Not good for module communication ie a lot of deadlines fall within the same week. read more

I was able to get an industrial placement easily and I am doing extremely well because of the extensive practical work and lab sessions I was exposed to.
