Being a final-year student at UoB has been a genuinely rewarding experience, both academically and personally. The course has been challenging in the right ways, pushing me to develop strong problem-solving skills, independence, and a deeper understanding of my field. The lecturers have generally been supportive and knowledgeable, and I’ve appreciated the balance between theory and practical application, especially in labs and project work. One of the highlights has been the final-year project, which allowed me to explore an area I’m genuinely interested in while applying everything I’ve learned over the past few years. It’s been demanding, but also one of the most fulfilling parts of my degree. Beyond academics, university life here has been vibrant. There are plenty of societies, events, and opportunities to meet people from different backgrounds, which made it easy to build friendships and grow in confidence. read more

University of Birmingham
The University of Birmingham is overall a really great university, and I do genuinely see why it has such a strong reputation. The teaching is solid, the opportunities are there, and it feels like a place that can really help you build your future. At the same time, if I am being honest, the social side and overall student life feel a little lacking. The university itself is impressive, but the atmosphere can sometimes feel quieter and less connected than I expected. So overall, I have a lot of respect for it and think it is an amazing university, even if the social experience does not fully match that. read more

The library is open 24 hours. There is a train station on campus, and it takes 10 minutes to reach the city center. Birmingham is the second largest city in the UK. There are numerous Chinese restaurants, Chinese Super League matches, and Asian supermarkets. The cost of living is 30% lower than in London. The campus is safe. It's reassuring to walk back to the dormitory at night. The administration can be a bit slow, and it takes patience to reply to emails. During peak hours, there are limited seats in the library, and some old classrooms have outdated facilities. read more

I have been at the University of Birmingham for 2 whole semesters now! I can confidently say that I have really enjoyed my time here. The campus is genuinely a beautiful place in ALL seasons and the atmosphere in and around is genuinely so lively and fun.
