I study Instrumentation and Control Engineering and am in my final year. The Teesside University team have been incredible at getting by me prepared for the job market, as I did a placement year (and didn’t pay any tuition that year unlike other Unis) and they supported in finalising my CV and getting me prepared for interviews. Also the University provides a iPad in first year along side £100 funds to be used on a range of different products monitors, laptops, stationary, mobile phone top up and many more. Every year you get an additional £100. The course has been challenging in the right way giving me a great insight and understanding of what would be expected of me in real world applications getting me prepared for the job market. read more

I am on the Masters Animation course having also done the Undergraduate Computer Character Animation course with Teeside also. Both courses are great for building skills as an animator. The undergrad course starts from scratch assuming no one knows anything and will teach from the ground up. The Masters starts off similarly but the jump in skills in quicker than in the undergrad. In terms of the whole uni, the computer facilities are unmatched. The library is open to all students 24/7 and has the programs required for the course. There are also designated PC labs which are open working hours. Student life is also very exciting with many events put on by the Students Union which is located in the centre of campus. read more

I am a third year student studying the Animation undergraduate course. Throughout my time at Teesside, I've had access to great facilities that help with my learning, including the computer labs and the library. The course has covered all the subjects required for getting into the industry, and I definitely feel confident in my skills and the work I've produced over the three years. The staff are all very approachable and are always able to provide help and give feedback on work. The university provides plenty of opportunities for students in the animation and games courses to show our work off to industry professionals, specifically Animex and Expotees, which both take place every year. One of my modules in second year actually saw us working with Industrial Light and Magic. The university is also currently building a new building for games and AVFX students called Digital Life, The university campus is a great modern space that's always being upgraded and maintained. read more

As a second-year chemical engineering student, I’ve found Teesside’s program to be a good mix of hands-on learning and real-world prep. The labs are fantastic—we get to use industry-standard tools like Aspen HYSYS and MATLAB, and the lecturers (most of them, anyway) genuinely want you to succeed in your career.Sure, some courses feel a bit too theory-heavy or disorganised; for example, when I asked about thermodynamics, heat transfer & fluid mechanics, and mass & energy balance, I got negative feedback about how hard it is, but after experiencing the subjects, I won't say it's easy, but with the amazing lecturers and support and studying hard, it helped to overcome it and get good grades. The university’s ties to local energy giants, such as BP and SABIC, mean internships and networking are actually within reach, and I got the chance to visit the SABIC site. It was a great experience. Campus life’s low-key and affordable, which works if you’re here to grind. Not perfect, but it does the read more
