It started off quite slow and I was debating wether this course was for me. However once it picked up and we moved away from theory I’ve absolutely loved the course. They teach a wide range of design, making sure to touch up on each possible career. Most briefs can be catered for what you’re interested in and there’s never one way of doing something. The tutors have made sure each student wanting a placement is ready and looking. I personally have secured a place in London which I’m very happy with! read more

I enjoyed and thought what was on offer was good. Being slightly generous with the rating because there was a large amount of time where I didn't have time in the course as the University (and others) went on strike. That's an issue with the higher ups and not the art department though. read more

Some aspects of the course are creatively challenging, motivating you to try your best. Yet some parts of the course feel tedious and useless at times. Curated by lectures and when designers give workshops to students are very insightful and enjoyable. Tutors are friendly and approachable as well. read more

I transferred universities from Derby to Sheffield and it was the best decision I ever made. The tutors are really supportive, you can have a quiet discussion with any of them if you are stuck or unsure. There is the option to go in on a free day and ask the tutors how to do things in any of the adobe packages and they will teach you how to do it. There are plenty of opportunities to try different media's to work with, it is mainly digital but we've also done print making, risograph, 3D models and animation. It is as equally fun as it is challenging, it's been hard work but it's been worth it. Anything that's been a problem or something the students have discussed that they want changing for the following term they've done their best to change it. Your voice is heard, which is refreshing. We've had the chance to visit professionals and ask them questions about working in the industry. So far I'm in my 2nd year and it's been great. read more

Had a passion for graphic design all throughout high school that carried on to sixth form. I found the jump massive considering I did not complete a foundation course prior to starting my first head at Hallam. But overall you meet some amazing people (inc tutors) and really get to explore your own style of designing. read more
