History is very well taught at Newcastle but the module options could be of a wider variety and offering a wider range of time periods. Moreover, history does not provide many job prospects aside from teaching but the quality of the teaching at the university is excellent. read more

The content as well as the teaching has been fabulous and the staff and my personal tutor have been very helpful when it comes to assignments and are friendly and approachable. A very interesting course, and joint honours allows you to mingle across lots of courses. I'd recommend joining Archaeology society over Classics society if you were only going to join one as it is a lot more organised and more people tend to come to socials (also has the family social which is great for bonding across years). Gives you lots of opportunities such as the city tour to Athens in third year, and two weeks of fieldwork a year in places such as Ireland, Sicily or Spain. Some really great lecturers such as Matthew Haysom and Joe Skinner to support you. read more

It's actually an MA... worst mistake you'll ever make coming here. All it's done is highlight how much I hate the higher education system. My first degree I went to an institution where students actually mattered and were respected by the lectures. No such luck at this place. The module selection is complete rubbish it's like history only goes up to the 19th century if you enjoy modern history (as I do) this is not the place for you! Personal tutor? Do I even have one? Not a clue. After the 25th August this place won't see me for dust. Alumni? Ha what a joke you'll be lucky if I admit I went to this place. read more
