London Metropolitan University
My experience with London Metropolitan University was the worst experience of my life. I came to the UK as an international student to study a postgraduate degree, but instead of support I faced constant problems and humiliation. During my studies I had a serious accident and broke my leg. Doctors gave me a medical note for 8 weeks of rest, but the university said I could only take 3 weeks off or my visa sponsorship would be withdrawn. Despite being injured, I had to travel in a wheelchair from Croydon to Holloway Road campus, changing multiple buses just to attend classes. One professor, Steven Curtis, repeatedly failed my 5,000-word assignments over minor referencing issues, even giving 0 marks. This happened multiple times and ruined my academic progress. The student union and university departments were also completely unhelpful. In the end, I spent around £60,000–£70,000 on a degree that brought me nothing but stress, financial loss, and disappointment. read more

Being a student at the Aldgate campus, I feel like my experience is a little different and less focused on than those of the Highbury and Islington campus. The campus at Aldgate is generally smaller, with less social interaction, clubs and gatherings, less facilities and less staff to help for problems. I know for some people it is pretty difficult to get to the Islington campus, and so being made to go there for things like meetings, events etc. is difficult. From what I understand and have tried researching, there are no societies at London met to share interests and hobbies, though I might be wrong since the page doesn’t work. Everything else is pretty good, though I think the main thing to change would be doing larger events that would normally be held in the Islington campus to be held at Aldgate more since it feels a little neglected. Things and events that could be tailored for people at the Islington campus could be held in the other and vice versa. read more
