The Foresic Anthropology course offered by LJMU is one of the best in my opinion. The staff have always been amazing at helping me through my studies and with their support and access to modern facilities I have been well prepared to succeed in the course. With access to an amazing collection of skeletal remains and hands on practicals thus course is best at preparing students for the real world and has given me the confidence with working with skeletal remains to follow a career in forensic anthropology. read more

Forensic Anthropology, BSc Hons FullTime

First of all, you really need a Masters to get a job in this field which I didn't know in advance. You need to be switched on in every anthro practical in 2nd year to learn the bones as you don't get much time in the lab to learn them. It's very work-intensive and stressful, but so interesting, and worth putting the effort in. There's much more contact time than other courses, so it's not an easy degree. You get to go on tons of field trips, and a dig to excavate human remains so you get real experience on this course. You're assessed in mostly coursework as it is such a practical degree and some assessments (presentations, group work) mimic real life forensic anthropologist's work. The lecturers are great, and very knowledgable in their field, and love discussing their experiences. Tip: take *really* good notes when you're in those boring statistics lectures as you'll thank yourself when it comes to exams and dissertation in final year! & Buy/borrow the Human Bone Manual asap! read more
