Love it here so far. The people I’ve met have been really friendly and the lecturers are approachable and respond the emails in a timely manner! Heriot-Watt has a beautiful campus and since it isn’t too far from the city centre there are lots of buses running throughout the day. The traditional accommodations are also quite nice. Heriot-Watt is a practice-focused university well-known for engineering, computer science, AI and robotics. Its Edinburgh campus is a spacious, green parkland site, quiet and ideal for studying. It takes roughly 20–30 minutes by bus to reach Edinburgh city centre. On-campus accommodation is mostly self-catered single en-suite rooms with all bills included. Halls are a short walk from teaching buildings, library and sports facilities, and guaranteed for eligible new students, though availability is limited. Teaching is practical and project-heavy, with strong industry links. You will work on plenty of coursework, group projects and lab tasks. Library and specialist facilities including the GRID and National Robotarium are great for technical degrees. The student community is diverse and international. My experience at Heriot-Watt University has been very positive overall. Studying here has given me the opportunity to learn in a diverse and international environment, meet people from different backgrounds, and develop both academically and personally. The university provides good learning facilities, helpful academic resources, and a supportive environment for students. Leaving home and moving abroad to begin a new chapter of life was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made. Looking back, choosing Heriot-Watt University has been one of the best decisions of my life. From day one, every member of staff has made me feel safe, heard, and supported. Even when I wasn’t aware of a challenge, someone was always there to guide me with care and practical solutions. The on-campus GP service is accessible during emergencies, and wellbeing support, including professional psychologists and drop-in conversations, is readily available. The tutors genuinely care about students and are always willing to help. The beautiful campus, surrounded by nature and home to Oriam, provides an inspiring environment to learn and grow.
