Nice that it's close to campus and that I can get parcels delivered to the lodge and collect them later
So far so good. 24/7 staff or security on site. Amicable welcome.
Not bad, pricey.. but overall experience is good.
Lovely team on site has made my experience exceptional.
The bronze room is decent for what it is Silver rooms are lavished but restrict space with the double bed The new gold rooms make no sense with having a toilet taking up half the room in the bedroom. Orlando is closed to the uni and it is easy to get to within 10-15 minutes
There’s a lot of problems with Orlando and they put their money into the wrong places. Throughout my first year 2022/23, there was constant black mold throughout the flat, leaking toilets, silverfish festering and a terrible internet connection. Very false advertised. Then in second year, same problems with the cleanliness then we had a boiler problem which lasted months, they said it would be fixed for good when they came in, yet every time after a day or so it would break again. The staff are friendly yet they always complain about management and how they treat their tenants, our windows get locked without notice so they can save on their energy bill yet they then have decided to renovate some flats and push the price up for £200. Money is in very wrong places here. Would NOT recommend.
Lived there for three years and it was perfect for what I needed. Such a clean and well looked after place with the most amazing staff.

When I moved in there has been dampness they refused to admit and painted over it and it kept coming back so they plastered it and still continued to say it wasn’t yet I have bad asthma and since moving it had gotten worse as well as the black ceiling coming back. Moved in and the carpets came out black on your feet as well a smell in the flat that has not left since moving in. We have silver fish in the bathroom now due to the damp. There was lumps of mould in the ovens when we first moved in it was disgusting. The fridges are way to small and leak all the time due to lack of space. Not enough storage space as well as Wi-Fi barely working. Way more issues and is the reason why I’m leaving this uni to move home
Security- at 4am my room mates ex boyfriend managed to get past the security, past the gate, into our building and into our flat (because our door doesn’t even lock) and threaten everyone! I have had 2 people tell me security point the cameras at their bedrooms and intimidate them by telling them what is in their bedroom. Management- Emma is lovely not a bad word to say about her Cleaners- They hang around the windows talking to each other or sit in our kitchen on their phones. There is 1 new cleaner who actually cleans that’s it. Social side- very isolated, no where to chill unless you want to sit on a bed or a plastic chair. No tables in the kitchen just counters if you wanted to eat in the kitchen next to the cooker Location-nice alarm clock at 5am as you are surrounded by factories that work during the night! Didn’t even know that was a thing but constant loud bangs and noises never stops. Definitely not worth the money but not the worst place ever, wouldn’t recommend
Be careful around the Halls. The place where they built this Residence is the lowest in Bolton. Although, it is the best you can find. DO NOT EVER GO AND LIVE OUTSIDE THE HALLS. After one the Halls kicked me out without any form of logic. There were an absurd amount of people that got kicked out without sense. Although, if you go and live outside the Halls, pray the Lord to help you because you will be attacked by anyone and frauded by anybody. Worst experience ever, it also impacted my mental health, as well as my grades. I used to get 96/100 in Maths, 85/100 in Mechanics and related subjects. I graduated with 2:2. If you opt for Biomedical Engineering just do your best to study on your own. Biomedical side is pretty fine as most of the lecturers are British, but for the Engineering side just leave it. Help yourself!!! Study Programming and Electronics on your own, you will be much better at it trust me. Be careful as Bolton is fully polluted with low level criminals.
I don't use the accommodation but this field was mandatory, although I have visited.
DO NOT STAY HERE. The treatment of students during the current pandemic is disgusting. Making people stay loyal to them for only £400! Most people have not lived there for months. They do not care about the mental health of students at all! They have no morals at all! All they want is your money and do not care about you at all. Cleaners do not clean, they sit on their phones and may hover if they feel like it. Maintenance take weeks to get to any problems, my shower was stuck on scolding hot water and took them 2 weeks to “fix” it. It still doesn’t work properly! It’s my second year there and will not be spending my 3rd there.
Would not recommend, the rooms are horrid they I have lived there for 3 years and they haven't fixed hardly any of the issues even after being taken over by a new company the paint in some rooms it peeling off. There are silver fish in the bed rooms and bathroom I have to wash the bath out before being able to use it because there are silver fish in it. The cleaners don't clean properly. And the maintenance take well over a few weeks to sort issues and most of the time they are botch jobs don't waste your time or money. I wish I had gone private. And the way they are treating students in the current pandemic is horrid they are making students be loyal to them for the next academic year for them to be able to get a rebate of only 400 pound baring in mind most students haven't lived there for over 7 month since the last academic year.
nothing really to write about here
Felt very safe as a result of the 24 hour security and the staff were very friendly and approachable.
Great location for getting to uni. Staff always happy and helpful and always working on the site to make improvements
Staff are very helpful and friendly. If you report any maintainance issues they respond very quickly. Only down sides to orlando are that its very dated and also the internet is so slow.
Halls are a 10 minute walk from the University. The flats are cleaned every week, and there are always members of security on site to ensure everything is fine. It's so easy to get to know each other with the communal benches outside and the common room with a pool table, a ping pong table, and a TV and seating area. Your room also comes with a WiFi hub that's easy to set up and connect to.
WiFi good but everything else is s***
Downsides: Terrible for vistors, not allowed past 12 weekdays and you have to pay to have them past that on friday/saturday. The "Cleaning" offerd is litterally only that they will bleach wipe the kitchen surfaces/toilet interior, but only if they aren't already visibly dirty. If dirty dishes cover 5% of the surfaces they'll clean nothing and if repeated will charge. Security whilst decent at their job will treat you like an infant and employ no give and take. As of summer 2016, all top floor windows have (EXTRA) restrictors on top of the normal ones meaning the window can barely be opened. So you will BAKE during summer. (Enjoy the 1/4 chance of that). Finally, they are extremely slow at refunding deposits, painfully so. Which can make paying your deposit for your next accomodation (which won't be the same place) difficult. Good points: If it's literally the only place left available all of the features that the residence doesn't control are amazing.
The security treat you like you're 5 and not paying for the accommodation. If you want visitors don't bother living here because you have to pay extra and you're only allowed them round on Fridays and Saturdays. If you plan on bringing people back on a night out on the student night (wednesdays) don't bother they watch the entrance like a hawk and will kick them out. Good value for money though won't get cheaper accommodation so if you're a poor peasant definitely the place to go.
The place is pretty outdated, but compared to other places that you can stay in the local area its good value for money and right in the middle of the town, most shops are no longer than a 10 minute walk away making it very easy to shop in different places, there are three things that I feel let the place down and that is that the cleaners only come once a week and decide to throw away or tea towels and sponges in the kitchen, they have also not cleaned the floors on more than one occasion which is not our job to do. Another thing that lets down the halls is the lack of space and things to do in the common room, 2 tvs with no Sky or equivalent, a pool table and a football table is all it really has would be nice for more variety. Lastly the internet here is around 10mbps and often does not work, but from what I have heard its a problem in all halls.
Where can I start!! 1. Room was dirty when I arrived. 2. Smoke alarm kept going off every hew hrs 3. Fire Alarm went off thrice. Fire brigade came and people were coming down 30 mins later! Like it happens all the time . No fire plan!
You don't get an actual cooker or a good eating space, WiFi at the start was awful but has been fixed, the single bed is too small
Stuck in the middle of a dirty, noisy industrial site with a brothel just two streets behind. Beautiful, scenic location of old cars, garages, derelict warehouses and prostitutes. Only plus side is its very close to supermarkets, train station and university. Beware: the steel works are noisy every morning except Sunday.
Rubbish the safe were okay peoe steal food and there is nothing anyone can do
I have lived in halls for the full three years being at university. They have been great. It is a 10 minute walk from uni and has the main supermarkets and town centre nearby; good location and ive made lots of new friends!
I would never recommend anyone to live here, the accommodation is dire with badly maintained flats, tiny rooms and unhelpful staff. Your expected to share a table top oven and a microwave between 6 students, without any real oven and temperamental hobs. Any complaints will be overlooked and abusive flatmates will be favoured over you.
Close to everything but wish it was more up to date in facilities
Halls are in perfect place with everything you need within 5-10 minute walk. We have a common room with a pool room, football table, telly, couches with vending machines and a toilet but it's quite small and can't host more than about 30 people! Laundrette quite modern. Cleaning is up standard.
