Psychology and Sociology, BSc Hons FullTime

I think I have had a different experience than most on this course. But that is primarily due to my own obligations elsewhere. I didn't know who my Personal Tutor was until the last couple of months of my final year, but that was because I didn't actively search through the mainline course contents. I also struggled a lot financially and this impacted my ability to afford course materials and time for study. The information on the course is so incredibly interesting. However, I did attend during the start of Covid where all institutions were severely under-prepared for remote access learning. Which also played a big factor into my academic success and engagement. Would I do it differently? I'm not too sure.

Psychology and Criminology, BSc Hons FullTime

My course has been up and down due to COVID, In my first year there was barely any support and all of our lectures were online, it was a real struggle to motivate yourself to do work and some lecturers didn’t even have their cameras on to teach us via online lessons. The second year when covid was nearly over was still 50% online where a lot of other courses were back face to face; this was frustrating for us and it still makes me question my value for money for my course. As I’ve effectively had 2/3 of my degree online. there is a mixture in the teaching quality because it’s a joint degree. I found that the psychology lecturers teach quite differently to the criminology lectures, and that was quite hard to adapt to throughout my degree. The content was sometimes repetitive and we learn a lot of stuff in second year that we’ve been taught in the first year, which I didn’t think was necessary and would’ve preferred to learn something new. My PAC tutor I only heard from once in a year. read more

The lectures are very passionate and helpful. The use of online workbooks isn't great though as the general consensus of the class is that being given stuff to simply read through instead of a lecturer teaching it felt less interactive read more
