More face to face 121 time with tutors, e.g. for essay feedback, would be a big improvement - currently your lucky to get a 15 min slot online. This is not the fault of the tutors, who work really hard and give great feedback online, but the university. Staff need paying properly, their workload needs reducing and their pensions need securing. This is not singular to Durham University, but the Uni don't seem to be doing anything constructive to deal with these issues, or issues with lack of/price of accommodation in Durham. Seems like the University management is not fit for purpose. read more

The courses were very rewarding and interesting. This year was special, but the tutors did their best to provide dynamic online courses. They gave us all the resources we needed to spend a nice year. read more

History, BA Hons FullTime

Absolutely shockingly poor course. The lecturers have no passion for their students progression and hence seminars are awkward occasions. When going to the department for genuine help, I was met with difficult responses, lack of compassion and a total disregard for my wellbeing. Careers advice is generic and the role of the personal tutor is superficial. My tutor was actually changed half way through the course and I was never told. read more
