The course provides a broad understanding of biology, covering a wide range of topics and allowing you to explore different areas of the subject in greater depth as you progress through the degree..Some of my favourite modules include genetics, cell biology, molecular biology and immune systems. The teaching facilities are excellent, with access to well-equipped laboratories and resources that support learning. There is also a good balance between lectures, independent study and practical work. I have found that the course encourages you to think critically, analyse scientific information and develop skills that are valuable for future careers in biological sciences. Overall, Biological Sciences at Durham has been an enjoyable and rewarding experience. The variety of topics, practical opportunities and quality of the university's facilities have made it a great course to study. read more

Being an international student and paying international fees obviously makes it difficult to truly determine the value of the course from a financial perspective, but overall I've had so much fun with my degree. All the lecturers are incredibly passionate at what they do and teach, and are extremely approachable. We don't have personal tutors but we do have academic advisors and it does depend on who you are assigned to, but mine has been really kind and helpful throughout my three years in university. The course is very competitive to get in and the content is very rich. It's dense and difficult but also challenges you to think critically and it's amazing how much you get to learn about biology. I do recommend this course for anyone who is even remotely curious about it. After all, majority of us are very curious and passionate people! read more
