The department are lovely - great teaching and really supportive! Job prospects a little shakey, but they do exist!

The program is full of wonderful staff members and faculty. The material is tough, but worth it in the end.

Butter is to bread as York is to Archaeology. With so much on your doorstep, you cannot get away from the immense and densely stratified history everywhere in York. The dept. itself is fantastic. We have the advantage of being based in the town in the wonderful Kings' Manor. This creates a strong sense of community amongst all students, both UG and PG, and staff alike. My tutors have been exceptionally helpful throughout my time here so far. Cannot fault the UoY Dept. of Archaeology!

Historical Archaeology, BA Hons

I have since changed my course but initially and as I am writing this review I was studying Historical Archaeology. It is a fun and engaging degree though job prospects are poor and contact hours very few. Amazing department and if you truly want to do something relating to Archaeology as a profession then it is well worth your time and you couldn't pick a better place to study it than York!
