Childhood and Youth Studies, BA Hons

By On 2nd February 19

My course was very interesting, but broad enough for me to question and think about where I wanted to go after! It opens up many opportunities for jobs, and masters for further qualifications. I’m currently working, but plan to go onto to do my masters in the near future.

Absolutely amazing course, full of insights. Craig Ancrum is an amazing tutor who makes his lectures fun, so we learn more.

They should have more courses that are specific to a job area. Doing this course I feel like I'm not working towards anything and learning pointless s***, the only thing that'll feel important is when I do a top up degree that helps me actually get a specific job rather than "something to do with children"

One lecturer in particular, Fiona, is an outstanding teacher. She constantly encourages critical engagement with topics and continually critiques everything she says during lectures. When in her lectures, I actually listen to what she says, rather than merely copying the lecture slides. Through her constant critical analysis, it really helps when writing essays, and through this I have achieved firsts in every module so far. Sally is also fantastic and again, I listen to what she says, rather than copying lecture slides. It is clear that she is passtionate about the topics she teaches. However, all staff are absolutely fantastic. They are extremely supportive and want all students to achieve their best. I have built good relationships with each of my lecturers.
