Quality can vary a lot. Modules can have high-quality teaching and course content, but it sometimes feels a lot like other students do the bare-minimum to pass modules, and things like seminar participation are frequently low. Your PAT (Personal Academic Tutor) pretty much only directs you to other people, so their usefulness is limited past a point. Student Support is good, however - the University has always been sympathetic to any personal or academic problems.
I study history but believe that the value for money isn't great. A lot of the lecturers I encountered did not mark my early essays closely enough, and now mistakes are being corrected which should've been picked up on in the first year, not last. In Semester One of Year One, a session should be compulsory which shows you how footnotes and bibliography should be laid out, as I've been criticised for doing things wrong when I've just done what a different lecturer told me what to do. If students are to follow a handbook on writing style, the lecturers should all follow one when marking. It is also quite difficult to get hold of some lecturers sometimes, with them going off their emails or not replying or offering one-on-one sessions too far away, even when you are being proactive about an essay, for example.

Modern History and Politics, BA Hons
By John120899 On 26th July 18The first part of the history course was a bit dull for me because it’s not modern but since then it’s been great, the politics side incorporates a lot of ethical theory as well as political theory in first year, loving it
