I think the subjects of this major in The University of Southampton are not very practical. The subjects of the whole major are more inclined to business, and there is not much knowledge about fashion.

By member1235805 On 3rd February 19Really don’t recommend this course. Apart from it being such a small uni with nothing going on, the course was so disappointing. Absolutely not worth £9k a year, with only having a few hours on our timetables. I felt a lot of negativity from the lecturers, and didn’t feel them to be very supportive at all. The course was very limited, and misleading to what i saw on the open day, and wasn’t given any opportunity to expand my skills. The only good part being a free trip to London. Obviously this is just based on the graphics course so it may not be the same for other courses. Just don’t waste your time on this course

By member1036563 On 17th March 19I’m two years into my graphic design course at WSA and I can sadly say it’s the biggest mistake I’ve ever made and paid for. Where do I begin? Paying for everything eg trips, stationery (glue , scissors printing etc), the extremely rude and negative staff and lecturers, being patronised and made to feel like a school student, the “lecturers” being late, the extremely useless and unrelated workshops or the tiny amount we’re in out of the year. I am so disappointed and let down how it has been nothing like I was told it would be at the first open day. Fast forward me too this time next year when I’m done with the place. Did I say it’s not worth a penny out of the £9250? P.S only in one day a week at the moment - tell me what I’m paying for! Disgraceful

By member436564 On 17th March 19Honestly wouldn’t recommend this course to anyone! In year 1 we were in 4 days a week and saying we’re barely in and now in year 2 we’ve dropped down to an hour a week where only 10 minutes is on our own work. The lecturers are contradictory, with one saying one thing and the next week being told something else by another. Everything has to be paid for by us, trips, sketchbooks etc and the printing costs a fortune with being made to use the specialist printing services due to briefs having specific size requirements (eg A2+) that can’t be printed on the normal printer. Half the time are taught by ex-students instead of lecturers with workshops that are unrelated and waste the whole week when could be done in a day. Lecturers are rude and blunt with feedback and completely disregard the effort put into projects leaving you wanting to drop out in all honesty. The course is no where near worth £9250 and is barely anything like pitched on the open day.

Very beautiful campus, located in the port city of Southampton, south of London, with beautiful views. The postgraduate course is 1 year long. So the course can be quite intense and you will basically have a very full life In addition to British teachers, there are also many foreign teachers who are very friendly and responsible. Due to covid-19, we are still mainly teaching online, but we hope to return to offline teaching soon.
